My son Hunter had his first Power Kite flight today! This was his second flight of the day! Not bad for a 7yr old I must say

Now you have to buy another quiver of kites

I have a nice set going, when he is ready I will build his quiver!

WOW, the kids got it. Great control for a newbie any age.

Thats sweet. Ive got a 7yo son and a kite on the way for him to try out. Hes never shown much interest in my deltas, but maybe hell enjoy a foil more... time will tell.

I've got my 6 and 3 yr old flying. Funny the 3 yr old is really good, much better than my older son. Thought I think I made the mistake of teachign him how the loop the kite and now that's all he ever wants to do... so I'm a already bit concerned for when he's 16

young fellas and foils....reminds of the time Dereks nephews and sons (about8-10 yrs old) were flying a 2m (or 2.5?) Legend.
one young fella really caught on quick and was flying unassisted in no time. only thing was he never let go no matter how many times we told/showed him (them all) t'was OK to do so and was the right thing to do.
we were at a kite festival and the three/four young fellas were switching off between the Pansh and a dual line stunter.
it was late in the day and the little one fella had hours on the 4 line foil kite now because the others did not catch on as quick or as well and lost interest.
i had a kite in the air and while quickly glancing around i noticed a flash of pink and white buzz by and saw the little fella fling about 5 feet above ground perfectly horizontal. he did clear a good distance. lucky no injuries. he finally superman-ed himself.
he got up and launched the kite before we even caught up to him and continued on flying. he did say he would try harder to remember to let go. no more supermans for him that day thankfully.

i know the feeling Rich, too bad we cant bottle it...

Donnie yes he will be at the Oct. Bash. He was also there at the spring bash, wind conditions were not good for him for a first time fly. You know what I mean. I know he will have no problem picking up the handles now, time to get him a good helmet! Also time to think about building a micro buggy!

Mark I am so glad to have the video camera to catch these moments that way we can visit it time and time again!

Rev my son kept telling me he thought he was going to fly 10 feet off the ground. I laughed and said no matter what if you think that is going to happen just let go!

Just keep him on small low aspect kites till he 's got more weight. By then he will develop mad skilz
I just hope we can keep open spaces available for him to enjoy later in life.

Rich, did he get to tandem w/ Dean? If not , that is a must.

He has always been a little afraid to take that ride, but I think he may be interested now!
