First thing they tell me as I walk into the room is that I have to take a urine test; ask what it's for and act equally dumb when they give dumb
answers like "It's a health test. It tests your health."
Try and avoid the cup full of someone else's urine they're waving under my nose by way of explanation of what they want and try not to puke while
looking at the open bucket under the desk they dump the left-overs samples in.
Then, when they say "We're drawing blood too" say no bloody way are you sticking needles in me that have been floating around in this room with
god-knows what bacteria all over them.
Wait while they run around like headless chooks then call my boss who tries to tell me you HAVE to do it. Explain that no, I'm sure I don't cos I've
never HAD to in the past 4 years. Don't believe her when she says that the rules changed this year.
Enjoy the back and forth as they try to find people who can say in ever clearer English that I have to have the medical tests - ALL the medical tests.
Reply as above.
Stick to your guns while they stick to theirs and enjoy such nonsensical attempts at forced-capitulation as "But it's free if you have all the tests -
it's costs more the get fewer tests done!"
When your boss tells you to cancel, make sure she knows that it's not my decision, it's hers. Anyway, I don't like the look of the 'doctor'.
Then go home early. |
Just started a new,, instead of HJ the old.
Kami we went to a new insurance Co. at work this year as always. They all do the wellness programs for our benefit. They want blood with all the
regular things like BP and such.
This year, we was offered 75 bucks to let them do this. Supposedly by the Ins. Co. but of course it was on the checks and taxes were taken out.
I declined,,,, I know Ins. Co. want to use DNA / RNA and what ever they can to start databases on people. Could use this as a risk factor to insure or
not.
Its supposed to be against this country's law, but how about sending the information to another country? Laws or no Laws they are going to do what
ever they want.
Our Government proves that everyday.
Get out and VOTE, change it if you don't like it!!!!
BS,,, I say nobody vote and see what they do. Nothing changes except new crooks with new ways to screw the people and pocket as much as possible.
ok I'm done,, Kami you started it.

Na, brought that over from another post where Kami was talking about a trip to the clinic.
Looks like the same list I would write Drew.
Made a couple compressed air spud guns that shot over 800 fps. Best was with an electric sprinkler valve that dumped the air from the chamber to the
barrel. But the fastest was a piston type. the barrel was in the chamber, filled from the back,, small fill holes in the piston for a slow fill then
when the dump valve was released it blew the piston away from the barrel letting the chamber pressure into the barrel.
Home brew? How ya going to keep it, bottles? soda canisters? The syrup canisters are the best way, less clean up/ prep,, per 5 gallon batch. Set em
up like a keg. Home brew on tap.

Wasn't a clinic - it was the second floor of the town council offices. Apparently, un-used for a while because something was growing out of the wall
sockets that looked like a new form of life.
The thing is, they're not really testing anything useful and when they do, it's unlikely I'd get any real information out of the results - naturally,
not in English. It's a scam to make work for themselves. The funny thing is, the less work they do the more they get paid, apparently. I'm in the
wrong job - I'd be a millionaire in weeks if I worked there
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

i have a piston style spud gun that is epic indeed, lol!
theres a guy on the internet that claims his will break the sound barrier... mine is based on that... tripod and all. ive never found a spud i shot
out of it... truly massive! im not claiming ive broke the spud sound barrier, but it is my favorite weapon... Side note, the sprinkler valves work
better is you seal up the electric actuator hole, and drill the top, and add an air release... it drops the air faster, and thus allows a quicker dump
of tank pressure.... my sprinkler valve cannon has an optional attatchment for a "dry dairy flame tower" (its gotten the cops called on me a few times
)
i was bored in college, so i took to a personal study of mushrooms.... Many hours were spent studying my favorite fungus... Ive grown many varieties
in my day... the ones ive grown most recently (man, like 2 years ago now) were blue oysters... very cool looking shroom, tasty in garlic and
butter.... horribly bitter fresh... the procedures, the lab-like atmosphere required, it was just fun! Nothing like a fresh crop of shrooms....
*cough cough*
remember parents... your kids will learn A LOT in college
(blue Oysters)
being clean has its perks tho... the authorities leave you alone
every once in a while i will read my notes over... fond memories... but it is a very interesting subject to follow

Look at getting into control line combat model airplanes. There are about as many as there are kite flyers. It's a heck of a rush, all the power you
have in your hand, and its something to do when there is no wind
Drew, how do those blue oysters go on burgers? :frog:

my spud gun projects were back in the early 90's. Sounds like they have came up a step or two.
I'm guessing the sound barrier is around 1150 fps. give or take for the other factors. I'll still have em and might have to try your tricks. The
sprinkler one was schedule 40, never pushed it passed 100 psi. The other was S 80, its probably still safe.
The airplanes would be fun, I need a better sport while waiting on the wind.

ya know, i never really had enough to try out on other food... just enough to see how they tasted... they were grown on about a cu/ft of shredded
straw in a very small terrarium... the end yield was less than spectacular, but enough to try out some fresh, and cook the rest...
my best successes were had on a grain based substrate, the straw, manure, or compost were much trickier.. the compost has to be done on such a huge
scale in order to be effective... thats why ive only grown a very few button mushrooms (like you would buy in the store) funny story tho, i actually
found packs of dried mycelium (mushroom roots) at wal-mart! it was a "grow your own mushroom" kit and it was for those little buttons... it never
grew tho, lol!
I never got around to growing on wood... those are some of the coolest mushies around! #@%$#!akes are a prime example of a "wood-lover."
man... i need to get back into this, i think i still have most of my equipment in storage somewhere :puzzled:
--on to the beer
i found a starter kit that has EVERYTHING! 2 primary fermenters, a glass secondary, a SS boil pot, a wort chiller, 2 or 3 books, racking canes, a
full keg/CO2 system, spoons, you name it its there... plus a beer kit, lol... i think its a partial extract kit... but the same site has a good deal
on some Cooper's extracts, and i'll prolly start that route, then move to the partials. After the initial investment, the coopers is only like 20
bucks for a 5 gallon keg of beer...

HR, most certainly should. Here one of the better videos I found of it, but like kites its pretty hard to get good videos of it. Planes being a lot
smaller than kites makes it even harder.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jcr5bKVqhVk
(someone teach me how to embed videos)
Those planes are doing between 110 and 120 mph on 60 foot lines. Even better thing, if you do it right you can get started with these without
eating too much out of your kite budget.

acartier, that would sharpen ya reflexes a bit but its too much for me.
I did have a plane like that (not as fast) as a kid. Crashed it right off. Took the engine and put it in a friends smaller lighter plane. First flight
it went round about three times then nose first into the ground, nothing left.
What you have there is a serious hobby.

HR, I don't see it as any more or less of a serious hobby than kites and buggies and boards.
When you first start kiting you get a trainer kite, you try to hook up with some people that can help teach you if possible. Your skills progress and
you get into bigger and better things. And now after being in quite a time you have a rather sizable investment. You were going 40 mph on a buggy
right away or pulling 20 foot jumps off waves.
Planes are the same thing. Build up your skills for quite some time before you take on the heavy stuff. If you want an inexpensive trainer that is
really heard to break and super easy to fix if you do, you can call my dad :D he has a small company selling kits and what not.

*** not pumping his site, just guidance for those who are interested *** (don't want to get in trouble)
Anyway, it's another hobby involving things that fly, I love them both. :wee:
