PL Zero 4 chickenloop / depower line question

Hey guys,

I bought a 15m phantom a while back and flew it a few times, trying to get it sorted so I can get back into it over the next few months.

The Chickenloop and safety has always been a bit 'iffy', see pic bellow.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

It doesn't look like the one on the manual from the PL website, and I think the guy I bought it from replaced a part of it with some rope.

I've tried putting the pin through the deppower line and into the loop at the top, but the pin isn't long enough to hold it.

I can just about get the depower line loop to fit lower down so the pin goes through that, then into the webbing and then out where the top loop is, but it doesn't look or feel right and certainty isn't very confidence-inspiring.

If I get a new 07 chickenloop and depower line from here:

Can I just use that? Or is there a way to fix up mine so its safe and working?

Thanks for any advice.

yeah get the new one and you will be more comfortable. It's worth it I think. I stock that and the updated 04 version over here as well. The 07 version is more popular.

OOPS! Sorry for the repeat. Missed the previous post

Peter Lynn has an upgraded chicken loop for the 04 bar. It it similar to the tophat on the 07 bar and works MUCH better than the original. I picked mine up at JIBE from A Campbell. Price is modest and the installation consists of tying a knot. Check Coastalwindsports.com

That looks like a homemade one like Nick used to make way back last century  the pin should push into the knot of the depower line but that's no way to fly a kite!
Re-build that before you take it out!

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...
