it might be more helpful to tell us what sport you want to do, what conditions you have, and how much you can afford to spend...
with these things in mind, maybe we can give you more direct advice...
btw, generally a $15 kite wont be worth it

I recommend starting with a Peter Lynn Vibe or a HQ Symphony. Generally I prefer a starting point of the 1.9 Vibe or 1.8 Symphony but get what you
can afford. Just know that light wind days may not be as much fun with a 1.3m of these kites. But when the wind picks up.

dude....just make up your mind and get a kite!!!!!!!
listen to what people tell you, and just get what they recommend. Dont think about jumping or any other crap like that, until you are experienced with
ACTUALLY flying a traction kite.

I would get a small 2m or 3m foil to get your traction kite skills down. (A stunt kite is useless for getting traction kite experience). As I said
before dont think about doing anything else before you are familiar with actually flying a proper kite. Only after you feel like the 2m or 3m is too
easy...then think about what you want to do.
-----if you want to kitesurf (as in the water) get a lesson or two from a licensed INSTRUCTOR. The lesson is key here, to minimize your chances of
getting hurt, and also after the lesson you'll know what kite and what size to buy, which will work best in your local area. Only then get a real kite
that will work well in the water, inflato or PL/ Flysurfer. Yes, a lesson is expensive but kiting as a whole isnt exactly a cheap sport either. Also
dont try to do the whole craigslist/ ebay $100 kite thing. A 2004 C kite isnt going to be any fun, and much more importantly really dangerous. (just
look up some kooky vids on youtube).
-----now if you want to do land stuff eg..jumping, buggy, landboard, snowkite then I would go up the powerkite ladder. Buy a 5m all arounder kite
(that is after you've finished with your 2m/3m!!!) start flying that in lightwinds and then go on from there.
Most importantly with all forms of kiting be safe, go out in high enough winds and you can get hurt or killed with pretty much any power kite. Hope
this long speech helps.

If that beamer 3m is still for sale on here just buy it and get flying.
NO- Delta kite will not be good.
NO- a 2 line with straps will not be good.
No- a bargain brand 4 line foil will not be good.
NO- a larger kite won't be good.
NO- an inflatable won't be good.
YES- a quality 3m kite will be good !
Once you have the 3m start saving for a set of lessons.

Not impossible but if you dump it you end up with a sea anchor.

I think I told you in a previous thread that you CAN crash a foil on water . It just won't relaunch 99.9% of the time and you must take it to land ,
drain it , start over and then fly it dry.
If you can afford the Hydra I think you may enjoy it more ! It also may re-sell for a better price ?

how do you guys make enough money to buy these kites :shocked2: |
NO- Here

My advice to folks on a low budget is to buy Quality used gear. Gear with Pro' repairs can be a great deal.
I think there is a 5m Scout on here ? If the wind is TRULY as low as you say , it may be worth a thought ? { edit } Scout is on a local forum . I can
send the link if needed.
3m Beamer on here is a good deal?
Maybe DJkid can confirm if it is a good choice + show you the ropes ?

I think those are both great kites...but from what I gather from Noobs posts I dunno much about him. I personally would go for the 5m scout. I weigh
145lbs and think that would be fun in our coastal clean IMO best kind of wind to learn to fly a kite. Noob let me know where your at maybe sometime we could meet up. I am 45 min south of Boston :tumble:
