Recommend a De-power (Land use)
Just looking for suggestions on a land use de-power kite. (not much water high up in the Rocky Mountains...)
Something in the 10m range...
I was thinking a Flysurfer Outlaw or maybe an Ozone Manta M3... but I'm open to ideas.
So what would your next kite be...

Any chance you can " fly before you buy " ?
Are you looking for new or used ?
Both are fine choices.
I don't have experience with either model you are asking about but in general I am pleased by the closed cell kites . I like the way they stay full
and handle the gusts that bit better. If you are going second hand and see a Pulse or Pulse 2 I wouldn't shy away.
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

I'm amazed every time I fly our HQ Montana 9.5. Fast turning, light bar pressure, loads of power. Lift is controllable in the buggy but there for
you if you send it back.

The M3 is a mighty fine choice, and in a side by side test would likely be the winner of any similar style due to smooth power, massive range and
quick turning.
The 10 & 12 meter Manta's are my go to kite for land or snow. The M2 was Ozone's best selling Snowkite in 08 & 09, and the M3 took the kite
to a new level of performance this year.

for the budget minded the HQ
for the more bang for the buck ---> Flysurfer / Ozone
if you looking cross-over (land, snow and water) just incase you do find water : PL Arcs / HQ Neo / FS Psycho or Speed

@Bladerunner - Was thinking New, but if the price is right (with the right person) I dont mind used. No real chance to fly before I try as I havent
had any luck finding a lot of flyers in my local area so most of my purchases have been "shots in the dark" or after a discussion with awindofchange.
Not that there arent any kiters around, I just havent found them... yet!
@BeamerBob - I was looking at the Montana, just didnt want to start a list and say pick one. Thanks for offering one up as that is what I was looking
for.
Any other ideas? I was thinking a PL Charger also, but dont really need a twinskin since it requires a little extra setup time... but if the shoe
fits....

@ripsessionkites - Thanks for the suggestions. I notices you mentioned the FS Speed/Psycho but not the Outlaw... are they better kites or just
more versatile?

He simply mentioned that if you intended to go on the water, you'd want one of the closed cell Flysurfers.

FS Outlaw / OZ Frenzy, M3 are land only
the Neo / Syn / CH / Psycho / Speed are your water friendly choices
yes there is lots to pick from you need to ask yourself what is the kite for?
land only?
cross-over?
buggy or board?
ski or snowboard?
dirt and maybe some snow?
cruise or speed or boosting?
old school or new school tricks?
do you care how complex the safety is?
if you go with a closed cell, can you live with pre-inflate (FS only requires like 10 to 20% fill, SYN and the CH about 80 t0 90%)?
auto zenith?
this should help narrow down the selection.

Ozone is great but often hard to get unless you find a dealer with stock in what you want. I gave up on them due to supply chain issues here in the
US - had customers waiting months when promised weeks.
I can cast a good vote for HQ Montana as well good quality and great bang for the buck with good customer support here in the US. Stable and easy to
launch and fly. Fly it with a few fingers and goes upwind well.
PL ditto on quality and support. The Charger is a fast turning kite and if you like throwing a kite around the sky it deserves a lot of
consideration. Long set up time us a bad rumor from those who don't know how- same jokers that don't know how to launch. Most of the time my kite is
ready to launch by the time I unwind and sort the lines. For the few other times in lighter wind, a 6" muffin fan with battery (all less than 2 lbs
and $30) will fill it faster than you can unwind lines and you can fit this in the bag easy with room to spare. For a more laid back riding style,
look at one of the older ARCS.

Well lets see based on your list...
land only? Yes
cross-over? No
buggy or board? Yes to both
ski or snowboard? No
dirt and maybe some snow? Sand Dunes or Fields (No snow)
cruise or speed or boosting? Cruise and BOOST!
old school or new school tricks?
do you care how complex the safety is? The more simple the better, but safety is safety as long as it works.
if you go with a closed cell, can you live with pre-inflate (FS only requires like 10 to 20% fill, SYN and the CH about 80 t0 90%)? yes to both
auto zenith? Nice, but not needed

Go for the Frenzy. It's a bit cheaper than the Manta or Outlaw, and still performs really well. Kent has them in stock (I was just talking to him
about my custom Access XTs).

Yup, I have Frenzy's in stock and there doesn't seem to be any supply issues any longer. For a while there was some serious delays in getting Ozone
product here in the U.S. but that seems to have been addressed now and supply is on track and very quick. Windzup (U.S. Distributor for Ozone
Products) is also very serious about customer support and backing the Ozone products - so if you ever do have any problems, warranty issues and
support, they will always be there - Brian and Heather are solid gold as far as support go - after all they are riders too.
For snow boarding use, the Frenzy and Manta's are pretty much what every other kite manufacturer tries to compare up to. May as well get the best
there is right out of the gate. The Manta's are awesome.
For use on water or snow, the Peter Lynn Chargers or the HQ Neo's are excellent choices. Great crossover kites. The Flysurfers are also very good
kites - pretty awesome actually - but they do cost an arm and a leg compared to the others.
Give me a call and we can get a Frenzy FYX or Manta3 to you right away.

I've only flown one frenzy and to be fair it was like a 2005 model and I wasn't so impressed. Current model to current model has anyone tried both
the Frenzy and the Montana V in similar conditions? With the Montana as great as it is, (IMHO) I wonder if the Frenzy is really leaps and bounds
ahead of the Montana V? Not trying to stir the pot here, but when a kite is stated as being better than another as a matter of fact, I have to wonder
if it is marketing talk or does the Frenzy really get the job done better. Historically, some have looked down upon HQ as a lower tier company and
since HQ has come a long way in the last 2-3 years, how do the kites really stack up wing tip to wing tip today?

It is just more apparent for the paragliders because the product pages included colorizers, like this:

Thanks for confirming the price.
Last time I checked, the turn around on Custom Ozones was 23 days.... not too bad.

We can do custom colors for your Ozone products. For customs colors, give me a call direct and we can see what we can put together for you. There
is an additional charge for customs and it can take up to 6 weeks for custom colors to be made. Right now it doesn't appear that Pink is in the
color lineup for Ozone but they do have some different shades of red and orange.
