I had a great day last weekend with a 10.8 Reactor II. I recommend a strop for this one except in winds below 4 mph. There are others in this category but the Reactor II can save you some money vs the race kites.
My experience buggying with large kites.
7m Blurr is good down to about 8 constant.
8.3-8.6 Reactor/Reactor II will get you down to about 6.
10.8 reactors will get you down to about 4 mph.

How does a 10.8 reactor turn? I used to have an 8.5 Blade and sold that once I got my 6m Bego as I could work the Bego to effectively fly in the same wind range as the 8.5 which was slower and heavier.

It turns slowly at the lightest winds but is fine with a little pressure on it. It likes you to use brake assist and almost won't turn without it. Step up the wind to where you are medium to well powered (6-7 mph) and you forget all about the turning. It's actually faster than you'd expect an almost 11 m kite to turn.

I'm a big fan of the Peter Lynn Reactors. Fast, stable and the price point is hard to beat.

I like my Reflex 10m.

. Roland and Ed seem able to get a lot out their Reflex 8m and buggy. Roland seems to be able board in low wind with the 8 m. Fastrac preferred the 8m over the 10m.

What about Ozone do they perform well in lightwinds? Land Boarding and static jumps are what I intend to do.

Current Ozone FB max out at 5M, with the exception of the Yakuza. Going that route or one of the larger Ozone depowers will result in some wallet squealing.... unless you snag a deal on a pre-owned one.

yak gt, vapor, spirit, rm+, z2, cooper, combat, prodigy are race kites. they really werent designed for lift / jumping ... but if you wanted to cruise in the lightest of winds these are your babies to have.

do you want bar or handles?

how light "wind"?

bar ---> any depower from ozone (open cell) or peter lynn (arc) or flysurfer (closed / expect for the outlaw) or hq (open and closed, ie the neo)

handles ---> the blade or the twister II

edited:

another idea would be something like a reactor II with a cross-over bar

+ 1 for the Twisters if you want to stick with fixed Bridle + ATB + jump. Slightly sorry I sold mine. Haven't found a replacemant yet. Not much time on the Core yet. If I'm right it is nice and stable static flyer and works well for freestyle buggy but the Twister is the kite that is tuned to give you the lift.

Chasing airtime and low wind is a real tricky thing. Trust me I have spent a lot of time and money doing it ! There is a BIG difference between a kite that will " fly " in low wind and one that wil give you airtime. I kite you can jump with in sub 9knott wind I'm still searching for.

My 7.7 Twister wouldn't quite get me going as soon as others with 10+ m open cells but close. At that MAGIC 9-10 knotts this kite would have great lift and was a joy but with a pretty small wind range from there ( for little Ol' me )

I would never suggest this as a 1st kite !!!!!!! What are you flying now?

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .
