Kite shipping mistake (photo added) :)

I bought a kite from a guy in Australia this week, and I think he made a mistake. When he sent me the shipping invoice he review when he shipped the kite, I noticed that he didn't put down my zipcodr on the shipping adress. My street address and city and state were on there just not the zipcode. Does anybody know what will happen? Do you think it'll make it to my house? What should I do?

it should be okay ... if not it will be forward back to the shipper (in most cases)

also if you have a tracking number you can easily contact the shipping company and fill in the correction

Depending on the company, any address modifications have to be requested by the shipper.

Actually, I would guess it would be true for most of them..... and for some very good reasons.

When shipping the Montana, fedex incorrectly entered the city name. When I called, they said the shipment was driven by the zipcode (not promising for your shipment) and the city name didn't matter so much and also it couldn't be changed.

Do you think it'll bounce back to sender even though he's in Australia?

That's odd.

A company shipped something to me via UPS. They shipped to my billing addess instead of the shipping address I requested.

FWIW: The term "Driver Release" is the unholy work of the Devil.

I called the company and they corrected the address on the fly.... the UPS tracking website showed the redirect shortly after the request was made.

You really need to specify what shipping method is being used.

USPS will bounce back the package.... regardless of whether it is international or not. They will not hold it at the postal station for even a short grace period.

Totally, totally stupid policy, which probably costs them money.

It also depends a lot on how well the delivery people from the various delivery companies know you.

Some know me by name, some know me on sight, some just know that weird packages from weird origin addresses generally head my way. If it ends up in their truck, it still has a better than even chance of getting to me even if the address is less than perfect.

Sam

It was shipped Australian post to (I'm assuming) USPS. The city and state name are on there, I think he just forgot to put my zipcode on there

This type of thing happen from time to time. Give the sender a call or email, and have them contact the shipping company and get it corrected. I have found the sender is the only one who can make changes or corrections.
One way or another they will try to deliver it and if they have a problem they will contact the sender for address clarification if possible. Last resort will be the package will go back as undeliverable.

Good Luck.

I'm bummin today because of this. I already emailed the sender but he lives in Australia so it won't be till tomorrow until I hear from him. The invoice he sent me looked like it's just a receipt copy. I'm really hoping the actual box has my zip on there. If it never makes it, does anybody have a 12m synergy or 13m venom2 they'd like to sell lol?

It seems to me the post office is fairly good about sending things in the general direction they need to go. Once closer, someone fine tunes it more. Once there, a local will recognize the address and scrawl your zip code on or put the little yellow sticker on it.

If you're really worried, drop by the post office and ask to speak to the postmaster. Explain what's happened. Less chance of things falling through the cracks if folks are aware of it.

If the zip code is the only thing that was missing, it is quite possible that they corected the address as soon as it transferred from Australia Post to USPS.

Sam

It will get there; just might cost some time since they will have to manually sort and route. USPS prefers zip and zip + 4 of course but can function without and will make every effort before returning to sender . Still a good call if you live in a small town to check with the local post office.

My shipping software will catch the error and add a zip automatically for domestic but not likely international- there are just too many variations out there.

I emailed the sender 4 times since friday explaining the situation. He hasn't even responded at all. I'm starting to think I got ripped off  I hope he's just lazy and not responding to my emails. The way he described things made it sound legit, but that could be part of a scam, if it is a scam. He told me that he had to replace one of the collapsable spars, and that he had to ship it in a naish box, since that's all it would fit in. This sucksssssssssssssssssssssss

If he really sent it from Australia on Friday, then I won't really expect it to be here within the next two weeks. I really hope he's a decent seller, and is just really busy. If not it'll be a very crappy few weeks to wait to find out that I got screwed over by a scammer

I have gotten lucky speedwise on getting some stuff shipped from Australia. 7-10 days is probably average, but 2 weeks probably isn't outrageous. UK shipping has taken longer... sometimes by a good deal.

Hope you get your package soon.

Sam

Wolf you are the first person to give me advice on a timeline. I didn't really know what to expect. you've been the most encouraging person so far lol. So hopefully even if he forgot to put my zipcode on the box it'll be here in 2 weeks. So if its not here by a week from Saturday then I should be concerned. I really hate having to worry about this. A tracking number would've been nice.

I should tell you all what I bought. It is a venom2 13m rtf red and green color. It was the kite i've been trying to get ahold of for about a year. Its impossible to find venom 2s in this size. Nobody ever wants to sell them. i'm so tired of worrying about this. wolf seriously thanks for the tip about the shipping timeline :)

If all you are missing is the zip code and the rest is OK, you should be just fine. It just might cost an extra day or so to sort it. Don't worry.

Got my kite today wooooooo! It's in perfect shape too. The guy said he only used itfor three months. This is my favorite kite color combination and it took me nearly 2 years to fin it. It's a 13m PL venom 2 in green red and black. The only thing that I ddnt like was that he had the zero7 bar set to front line safety so I switched it to rear line safety. I wasn't home when the mail came, so they left one of those pick up notes. I knew that it wouldn't be at the post office yet since I missed them by an hour. So I went running through my neighborhood until I found the mail truck lol. I'm so happy and I plan on learning loops with this kite. This kite was the first one I saw in a video, when I saw landboarding for the first time, so it sort of started it all for me

It's not really bad until UPS/USPS actually issues a restraining order against you.

I never actually caught the driver though. I've done the neighborhood cruise like that myself though. Glad you found the kite you wanted and it got to you ok.

I've got bars that use front line and rear line safeties and really can't tell the difference. Some have said that front line works better. I've had a std 07 bar cause a synergy to do loops when I popped it with the kite up high but only once. Never an issue on my bar that has front line safety.

I uploaded a photo for all of you to see. Now i shouldn't need another kite for awhile now but...........

I'm just happy that I've found the kite i've been after for a long time. It's hard to find the V2s in the US when they are for sale. I don't think anybody ever wants to get rid of them.

Beamerbob, you think I should switch back to the frontline safety huh? I guess it might be a little easier to recover.

Not trying to steer you  at all. I've had almost all good landings with both setups. I just wanted you to know that I've heard several that have more experience than I do say they like the front line safety better. I think the leash connection is cleaner while flying when set up for Front line. PL reluctantly switched to FL with the navigator bar due to pressure from customers. Try it both ways and let us know what you think.

Awesome colors btw. I've never seen that color scheme in the flesh.
