Good day on the P15

So after yesterday's dead wind on the inside incident, much fun was had today on the P15. I found some really good dune bumps, got some air, and crooZed. Wind was 10-15, top speed 30.7. Ave speed was 24. Fun fun! :wee:

I decided to switch the the V19 after I gave the P15 a workout. Man i really need a bigger bar on this kite. Turns out that just as I was going to start on the v19 sunset Jim rolled up the beach on his bike (not not a kite bike, a motorcycle). First real run out on the v19 and I tried to down loop it, but not enough steering input and it just would not turn that fast :( The kite decided to land (gently ;)) nose down at the edge of the window and swing back to center. Of course with the lines now wrapped around my upper body and going in reverse, so that was fun. But with my ninja like reflexes I managed to dodge that one.

I put the kite down and moved the bar from the 3rd knot to 5th knot, or what is really the bridal :D This looks like it's about 8 inches from the 3rd knot. So a _bit_ of a change. This is how i usually how it fly is on the 50cm bar; yeah I need a 6cm bar. the big problem was that the kite was then stalling really bad. I figured once I start moving I'll make some more wind! Worked like a charm! Went up wind and then came barreling down the beach and at 30 on alternating a reach and beam. That is until I ran out of beach. Funny thing, we have this green algae that's on the water line right now. As slippery as ice. I tried to do a quick power slide and turn except my kite luffed and fell out of the sky as my buggy started to skid the other way thanks to the algae. Got the buggy under control and jumped over the front end with, some help from the now powering up kite, to avoid having my lines end up like Sean's lines ;) OOBE! Did a nice ninja roll ;-) Coming out of a skid at 30... weeee! The track looked pretty funny on the GPS.

After the kite fell to earth it ended up inverted on the leading edge... at the waters edge. Death be a wet sandy arc, AR! The darn thing would _not_ flip. The LE was glued to the beach! Jim came over to help out, nearly slipped himself on that damn green algae, and managed to help me get the kite into the air to shake the sand off and dry it out. A big thanks to Jim. Otherwise my kite would have been even more sandy and wet!

My gopro footage was corrupted (Boo!), class 6 8GB transcend card... humm. So I have no proof of my 4th OOBE expect for an eye witness account who I think had his back to me :smug: I really wanted to see the footage. I'll have to see if I can recover the files.

So here's the result below. Washed the alge off with some gentle hose spray and hung the kite up between two ladders by folding it in half twice... and it's still 7ft tall! Lines, bar, kite and body all unscathed.

P15 video to come...

Any day with any size Phantom is a good day in my book! Any day KITING is a good day--just sometimes it comes with some pain and suffering but its still waaaaaay better than being at work.

Where I fly, instead of running thru algae, we get horse crap. I never in a million years thought I'd ever ever be thinkin' "Oh , God, I hope that was a bug that just flew into my mouth!" while simultaneously riding along yelling a "Yeee Haaaaa"!

Love dem Phantoms!
