hi all,

recently i had a go of my friends flexifoil bullet 2.5 and was instantly hooked.

I have always wanted to have ago and also try buggying.

So, i have gone out and brought a flexifoil blurr 3.5 and was hoping for some feedback and previous experience from using this kite.

I've read that the blurr is great for buggying hence why i went for one, but i have also read that the blurr isn't very good for jumping?

Also can anyone advise me on the minimum and maximum wind speed i should be flying the blurr 3.5 in please?

I am 31 weighing around 13 stone and flying the kite inland most of the time but occasionally go to the beach during summer.

Should i be worried regarding the line length or should i keep that standard?

Any information is much appreciated.

The Blurr is super srable and pretty bullet proof.


3.5 is a great size. It will fly but not produce a lot of power in 10 knott and under winds for learning. In short order you will want to take it into higher and higher winds , eventually in to the 20's.

Yes the Blurr is designed with more pull than lift. It will still show you what lift is if you go through the motions right. Any kite will. 3.5 is a bit small for a jumping kite. By the time you get to that stage you will be looking at a second , larger kite so that isn't a big issue.

2 things you can do to improve enjoyment :

Get a harness and start hooking in. It will increase the amount of time you can fly by resting while flying so you will learn faster.
15m lines will increase your top end .

Good call Andy; welcome to the Forum.

I have a 3.5 m Rage (successor to the Bullet) and it is my high winds kite for anything above 18-20, but as Bladerunner suggests, don't go there yet until you work your way up. Also, do not hook in to a harness until you know what the kite will do next in all kinds of conditions. When you are hooked, you can't unhook when you most want to. Many of the worst injuries we hear of are with about this size kite, so don't let the "high winds" label leave you complacent.

The lower lift setting on the AAA will speed up the kite, improving upwind work a bit but be ready to ride the brakes when heading to the edge of the window to keep from over-flying. The high lift setting will slow the kite down and add more grunt.

Finally took the Blurr 3.5 out the other day it was around 10 knots of wind i think and as soon as it lifted of the ground i was skudding along it lol.

A little scared? Yes i was thinking that maybe i was daft to get one this big, but within minutes i had got used to it and was loving it.

My mate lent me his waist harness with a roller wheel attached to take the pressure of your arms and it was pretty good but as the kite went high it just kept flicking off so wasn't that impressed.

Would you recommend getting a bar if i was to buy a buggy or am i good to use handles, or does it go on personal preference?

What size kite would you recommend to get jumping with. Was looking at a flexifoil blade 4.9 is that too small?

Have read that the blade can be really aggressive and pull you all over the place. sounds great fun.

I would stick with the handles. You get much better control that way.

Hooking in is something you grow in to a bit at a time. Use the harness to walk back upwind and rest between sessions ( with the kite off at 2 or 10 ) . Don't hook in when you are pushing your limits.

A 4.9 is the smallest kite I would jump with. Personally I much prefer to jump with a larger kite. The 4.9 Blade has the nick name of " widow maker " due to it's lift but small canopy.

If your big desire is airtime I would be looking for a depower foil. If you wish to stick with fixed bridle then the Blades or Twister II are the most recommended kites.
