 Any experience with power kites at all? If no, probably too much kite for someone with no experience, IMHO. You would launch it, it would launch you, you would then pack it up, if able and sell it ASAP. If you have solid trainer experience, know the wind window, and how to respect the wind, take it out in only light wind until you get to know it, and weigh 175+, it could be right for you. Any one else?

Any 10 meter kite is too much for someone with no kite experience under their belt. While the Frenzy can be very gentle in the right winds it can also kick your a$$ when the wind picks up.
I echo Babalooie's question about what your experience level is.

Agree with bobalooie (and vtliter who posted at the same time as me).

A 10m is a great size for a depower but really not a good size to learn on in any kind of enjoyable manner.

The thing is, this is a great sport but you need to respect the conditions and the power or the kites. If you learn kite control, the wind window, launching and landing on a smaller, less powerful kite you can progress as your confidence builds. However, if you start on a kite that is a handful it can be extremely intimidating or down right frightening which will cause you to fly less, potentially get hurt more and progress much slowly

Starting small and working your way up is much better then buying big and downsizing.

Of course if you can get instruction or fly with experienced riders then a 10m may be OK if you start out in low winds until you gain confidence.

Not the original owner. I bought from someone who used it very lightly as they were intimidated by it. I'm selling because I spend alot of time on the water (originally only snowkited and buggied) and I want to get a Flysurfer Pulse to replace this kite.
It is in mint shape and is an excellent kite

This year of the Frenzy is a great year as far as construction goes, but as I recall this model doesn't have quite as much depower as a newer one, correct?

Great kite, great deal, someone jump on it! (Well, someone with experience.)

The depower is not far off from the Frenzy's up to 2010 from my experience. I haven't flown the 2011 with the new bar, so I can't comment on the latest version.
I found the 06 to be an all around rock solid kite, I thought it was the year they got it right having owned all the previous versions.

Kiteboard, it would be a good idea to start smaller and learn the essentials (like what B-Roc said) before moving to a large depower kite, or even a 7m kite in general. Throw around a small fixed-bridle foil (like 3.5 or 4m) and really get the hang of it. Trust me, there is NO shame in buying a small kite and practicing with it... we all did it. Plus, once you're ready to buy more kites, hang onto it! It will probably be your high-wind kite if you decide to move on to traction activities. Here, read through this for some ideas on great starting kites.

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=15931

Good luck!! :D Sorry for hijacking the thread, by the way.

Cheers,
Seanny

Is this a good buggy engine? I found a few videos of the 06 10m and all seem to be ATB or jumping videos. I'm not looking to launch just be pulled. I'm sure it is all about bar control and knowage. But what is the lift aspect of this kite?

The Frenzy is a great ATB engine and is also works great in a bug. I still prefer fixed bridles when buggying. It won't launch you unless you command it to!
I actually don't find this Frenzy to be lifty. I have a 6 meter Access that is more prone to launching me when I gybe than the Frenzy. (even though the Access is defined as a "non lifty" kite.)

Snowkiting?

Did you ever take this out in the snow? I weigh ~180lbs and I wanted to know if it would be strong enough to get me going on soft snow. I have used other 10m kites on grass with great success, but snow... uncharted territory for me...

I've used it almost exclusively in the snow. You need less power to get moving on snow then on the grass. I primarily snowboard when snowkiting unless the surface is bulletproof and then I go to the skis.

So Christmas has come and gone. I was hoping to find a Flysurfer under the tree from Santa-me, but it didn't happen because the Frenzy is still here.
I had it all packed up and ready for shipping, but we've had wind, snow and frozen water so out it came. If this kite was closed cell I wouldn't be selling it.
So, who's gonna follow up on their New Years resolution to get a Frenzy and go out and have fun!?
(Best wishes to all for a windy and safe New Year!)
