Title says it all...I've never kiteboarded before (but I lots have experience with 2-line and 4-line kites) I weigh 110lbs. at 5'4" (still have 7 inches coming though).

So, I was just wondering whether, if I got a small kiteboarding board, I could use it and a hq hydra 350 to get pulled around on the water? The lake I'd be doing it at consistently has 20mph winds. I'm not looking to do jumps, just to surf around on the water :wee:

You need a fair bit of power, especially when you're learning. You might be able to get away with a 9m kite but if 350 means 3.5m I think you're out of luck ...

Yeah you would need a large board and even then you are going to go downwind only. It's really not meant for that. there is a video link here with HQ's Craig Young trying it...

fixed bridal and learning to kitesurf will be frusturating and dangerous.............................once you become experienced its possible to use the hyrda but you will be out in some nuking conditions where a depowered kite will serve you much better..................at your weight an 8m Ocean Rodeo Rise or 9m Slingshot Rev/Rev II would be a one kite quiver for you..........................

make sure you get lessons or hang and learn from experienced kiters

Play with it and have fun.

Lots of things are working against you but a good attidude can still have fun and learn things.

Don't worry about ever actaully staying upwind and enjoy the downwind rides. The more wind the better. As long as you have the kite mastered. I might guess that even failed water starts will be good as far as learning to get set up in the board and ready to go ? Something I struggle with . ( kite 1st !! )

Keep your expectations low and the fun factor could be high !
