Buggy seat for a kid

My daughter wants to kite buggy and I've been wracking my brain how to fit her into an adult-sized buggy. She's 11 years old and 4' 9" tall. Her feet don't reach the pegs well even when the buggy is set to its shortest position. The buggy I'm trying to fit her into in an old Peter Lynn Comp buggy. It's not big, but it's just not small enough.

Today I had the epiphany--I grabbed the seat off my wife's sit-a-top kayak, clipped it the buggy, adjusted the strap lengths and offered it to K. It worked great and took about 3 minutes to set up. See photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/pbchase/sets/72157625235860056/

Susan says the seat cost about $60 new. As I already had one in my garage it's FREE. Just the price I was hoping for. :-)

I fixed S-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s favorite kite yesterday so maybe next weekend we'll see what she can do.

This work great, I actually used one in my xr for a while. I found thought that a staduim seat worked a bit better for my kid as it made a bit more of a cup to hold him.

I removed the plastic/fiber rods from the seat bottom and back and then tied it down to the rails and I folded the top part over to make it even smaller width wise.

You could have done like Ricardo does and strap some wood blocks to the bottom of her feet so she could reach the pegs

Arkay that is what The Kidd and I both use for seats in our buggys. He sits his in the sdt PL seat for back support, And I didn't want to spend a bunch on a custom seat for my Rat. They work perfect.

Cool. If I didn't already have a spare buggy I'd bite.

It is like the Libre Special but smaller, with side rails that help hold them in and a seat that has a great back rest. The new Sprinter is designed from the Special but with new foot pegs, a spray skirt, and a new seat design more like the V-Max II.
