gotta love the good days
I had a really frustrating day on Friday. Wind was 19 mph when I got off of work so I headed directly to the field. The wind mapper was reading 19,
but my wind meter was only reading 11mph. I was so mad. I waited all day in anticipation and all I was able to do was ride downwind a few times in
the bumpy field.
Today on the other hand was insane. Wind was reading at 23mph gusting to 30 when I arrived. I pulled out the trusty 13m v2 and had a go. I set the
internal strap to all loose. After I slid my feet into my footstraps, I took one medium paced run to the right. I wasn't even cranking speed, and I
still had the kite at about 2 oclock. I sent the kite to 11 pulled in the bar and up I went. I was well over 12feet with a super floaty jump. Its
not very often that winds like that come around here, so i'm not used to the power.
After landing, my kite flopped around in the super gusty air like a snake till it gained shape again. I then did the same thing headed back in the
direction I started and up I went with another big jump. I'm so used to cranking the 16m scorpion hard to get good height. When the wind is high,
and you have to do is touch the bar and up you go very easily. I can't imagine how high I wouldve gone if I wouldn't cranked it hard like I normally
do with the scorpion.
There were a group of guys watching me and they all started yelling when the saw me go up. Unfortunatly after the second jump my kite flopped too
much in the gusty junk I call wind. It did the infamous bowtie in which I pulled the safety and headed home. It was one of those days where the
money you spent on your kite seems worth it. I love owning my own rollercoaster ride haha. Still I cant' imagine how high I couldn't gone if i
wouldn've cranked it like normal. maybe one day I won't wear a pink skirt;-)
When I checked the wind after my 5 minute session it was reading 26mph with gusts into the 40s.

Sounds like the same wind conditions we just had at WW! We were there for four days and during the day I don't think the winds ever came down below
15mph! On Friday the winds were 20 plus with 30and higher gust! No jumping here, but one of the guys did get picked up by a gust while standing still
on the beach with his 12m outlaw! he wasn't expecting it, but he landed in soft sand so it wasn't so bad! Great days are hard to come by for sure!
Glad you had one! Oh and your kite is all packed up and loaded in the truck for shipment to you!

Gusts not fun. Had one real gusty day out on the water and it blew goats.
Last Thursday though was epic magic! Knowing there was nice soft water under me meant I'd 'send' the kite and then just sheet in and hang on for as
long as possible :D
You got me all interested in trying it on the land too though ... watch this space for another "I broke my ..." thread
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Haha sash Kami you crack me up. You need that silver arrow for land that'll
ensure flaty landings for the joints. Ohhh the things I would do to a silver arrow on and off the field

Lol yeah finding open space is hard, you'd think there would be miles and miles of open space out west, but they always seem to put powerlines, roads,
or metal fences in the middle of the best spots

Try living in Wisconsin, where the trees outnumber the population 10 to 1. The only vast open areas are H2O. Trees + inland = GUSTY!
