So I picked up a new camera. I decided to go for the Tachyon XC Micro for a few reasons. Price, ease of use, and small footprint being the main ones. My first movie with it is packing up, which shows how I use the "sock" method to wind my lines, without the sock! Vid quality is SD, overcast conditions, and I had the plastic lens shield on, though I really didn't need it, it doesn't affect the vid quality too bad.

I found the video on this camera to be quite good for the price, but the audio not so good due to the mic being sealed inside. Good thing most videos will be set to music, anyway.

I so suck at copying code! I thought the cap I's in the code were lower case l's, so it wouldn't work. Working now! Sorry.

Yeah, but the wind needs to be just right to get the most out of it! Yesterday's wind was mostly NW, but varying slightly, and then only 5-8mph(guess) Rasta's Fury (NPW 9)is the biggest FB I have, and I got some short runs out of it, but havent turned it into a movie yet. Trees on one side and buildings on the other make it difficult(turbulent), unless the wind is above 15, then you're flying. I'll post that movie under the Buggy forum, once I get it done.

Thanks for the mini reivew of the Tachyon, Bob. I am finding myself wanting one mostly for snowboarding but I am quickly realizing the possibilities are endless!
Still undecided between the gopro and Tachyon though - I just hope Santa brings one!

You guys are going to think I am picky, but is wrapping the lines around your finger a good idea? His kite is still out. If by some trick of fate his kite powers up and the lines go tight, he could lose the end of a finger. You really do not want to learn why they call it "the bite" that way.
When I wrap mine lines like that, after I put the brake loops on the handles, I give the strop a wrap around the handles at the power end and then put the remaining loop over one handle. It makes a nice sling to wind your lines over with space between your handles..
I usually put my kite in the bag and then deal with lines. The lines are unlikely to do much while you fold the kite. Vice versa not so.

Good observation, Scudley, I never gave it a thought. If you notice though, there was very little wind, and I did say if the wind was nukin' I'd have to weight the kite to keep it in place. Still got all of my finger tips, though, after three years of using that method, so I guess I've been lucky. Don't try that at home, boys and girls...:D

i think you just need to fold your kite before the lines thats all, different style for different pilots.
