Very nice video! Looks like a hell of a lot of fun. I was wondering what the size of a "Speed Canopy" would be in relation to a normal skydiving
canopy.

That's a bit open ended I'm sure...Weight of the pilot is a determining factor...skill level as well...I was trying to get an idea of the size
difference in foils......Ok dammit...I want to see if I can fly off a hill near my house with a modified PL Core 6.7...lol..
Really though...Speed flying seems like an interesting prospect...I was just curious on how one goes about determining the right size....

a local guy has a 16m ozone speed wing. it is a little different than a 16m open cell kite and definitely different than a paraglider. Probably
more like a parachute like you were saying.

Solaris has a speed wing. SkyCountry I think ? I know she has had it out a couple of times over the summer.
She is already an accomplished paraglider so this makes a lot more sense for her.
Solaris's speed wing is a DeSCent. Made by Sky Country, of course. Descent comes in 4 sizes: 10m; 12.5m; 15m; and they make a 20m for tandems. This
around half the size of typical paraglider wings. Size is determined by your pilot skills and body mass.

size also determines how fast you want to go, a smaller one will be faster. I had a JN one a few years ago, too bad we cant ride Whistler.
do you Speed wing?
if you looking for a wing, i strongly suggest the OZ or the GIN. they are the leading inventors on speedriding.

I'm a wanna be speed flyer....It looks like so much fun. I'm in a flat region at the moment but hope to be transitioning soon.
I have done a lot of downhill type skiing in the past and the idea of "getting flight" out of something that is already awesome really gets me going.
Not to mention the other applications it can be used with.
Thanks for the OZ, GIN recommendations

I think the first time I saw speed flying was from an Ozone clip. I'm not sure who the Bullet pilot is in this clip but thanks to him for putting it
out there (and the camera person). I love that, "Wind going through the bridles/cells" sound.

do you Speed wing?
Rip,
Your skill level should determine how fast you want to go. If you don't have the skills for a small wing, you may reach terminal, in more than one
sense, velocity.
Do you speed wing? Having once had speed wing in your closet does not mean you have the skills to use one.

most paraglider schools will tell you to start with a larger size because it slower in speed. I had my Hellracer on 13m for two sessions, and zip it
to 10m for more speed. My buddy still owns his OZ Bullet and his Gin ? which i thought was better. I've flown over 10 times on our local hills before
they said we couldnt do this here. hence the reason why i sold mine.
sorry i work off of experience

Gee, another thirty flights or so and you could get a novice rating.
