i had an accident yesterday

yesterday i had the day off of school and it was very windy so i decided to go to the local fields where i ride and took my ace. the winds were pretty fast and i was getting some small air but then the wind gusted up extremely fast and i flew in the air about 20 feet and dropped like a rock... i am currently on my laptop in my hospital room i have compound fractures in three of my vertebrae and i am not allowed to walk or leave my bed i have to stay flat. i just got fitted for my brace ill have to wear it for 3 monthes im pretty banged up

sorry for the missspellings but i cant type very well

OUCH!
Sorry to hear, not good. I can relate. How long before you can get out of bed?
Do as you are told and things will get better. You ready to get rid of the Ace? Or are you unable to think clearly yet?
Heal completely and you'll be back at it in no time.

Really sorry to hear, being young and stuck in the hosp. sucks! I spent 3 mo. in the hosp. when I was 12(fractured hip, both Tibias broken just above the ankle, run over by a car while sledding, stupid) I feel it even today! Do as best you can to listen to the Dr.s, and get well. Wind here yesterday was 0-gusting to 45+, I didn't go out.(old and cautious)

CJ I am an old man compaired to you. But 4 tears ago I broke a vertibre and hurneated 2 discs. I had surgury and for the most part I'm back going full blast. I say do just what they tell you no matter how stupid it sounds to your teenage ears (I know it sounded stupid to my 40+ ears) but it is all for your best.
I hope a speedy recovery and at least come see us in the spring even if you arent allowed to hot dog around.

I'm happy to hear you're going to make a full recovery. My 2 cents:
1) Listen to your doctors and the physical therapists so you heal right.
2) Don't ignore them once you start to feel OK.

I have to concur with 1 & 2 above. I have now missed three days of work taking care of things at home while trying to keep my wife quiet after a surgery on Tuesday. She is not the type to listen to me or the doctors cause she feels fine. A little more time healing now should give you less aches and pains or worse later.

Please listen and I pray you have a speedy/complete recovery.

I have heard three "Ow!"'s since I started writing this...

Oh no CJ,I'm sorry to hear that little dude. Ditto what everyone else said about the docs and therapists. Physical therapy will be painful more than likely, but you gotta man up ,and do it. You are young so I have no doubt you will bounce back. Now you see why the 5m ACE is called "the widowmaker" If you need anything ,let us all know.

Get well dude, and take it easy for a good while.

Use the down-time to make a few Nasa Power Wings and handles. I know you were planning to make NPW-5s but you should try a NPW-9b which offers more up wind ability. They're safer than other kites because they can't loft you. You can't jump them but they are still fun. Here's a link to NPW9b plans: http://freedom2000.free.fr/NPW_NPW9B_plans_eng.html#NPW_prog

I'm pretty sure you used one of my NPWs at Wildwood. It was about a 3.5 meter and you were doing fine on it . Start out with a 3.5 and then make one larger like a 4.5.

edit: CJ , don't give up your groundboardin just yet dude. You don't have to get alot of air to landboard. I love to tear up the beach sandsurfin and just cruisin around. Just use a lower A/R kite around 4m, that would go good w/ your 2m beamer.
