Are there any Neurosis fans on the PKF?
Being the music lover that I am, I just thought I'd ask. Personally, I love them. One of my favorite bands ever, perhaps. If you haven't heard of
them, I'm not surprised. If you don't like them, I'm not surprised either. I think it takes a certain type of person and the right setting to listen
to this music and fully enjoy it. Possibly the heaviest band I've ever heard, not due to aggression, but because if you close your eyes and think
about only the music, it embodies you and strikes at something deep down inside in a way no other music is capable of doing.

Just give it a listen, if you want. I realize the song is quite long... try to sit through it. It doesn't feel as lengthy as it is. You can't really
skip ahead to a "good part", as the song constantly builds up on itself. The band has been around for quite a while and are a major inspiration.
Tell me what you think.
Cheers,
Seanny

You think so? For me, it'd be a little too slow. I know when I ATB, I like to listen to fast, aggressive, or catchy slow groovy music. Both tend to be
pretty mindless though. I think Neurosis takes a bit of thinking to really "get."
I dunno, I just like it.

Pain of mind.... one of there early album was high in the play rotation when I was back in highschool. I have not paid much attention to them lately
but remember them putting on good shows. They used to play a little hole in the wall club called gilman street in berkeley quite often. Thanks for
reminding me of some good times.

Wow!! :o So you've actually heard Pain of Mind?? That was their debut album, released in 1988. They used to play hardcore punk/crossover, then moved
onto the modern stuff which is like dark ambient, progressive post-metal... there isn't a simple way to describe it. Pain of Mind is a raw album. I
wasn't even born until five years after that was released... but even now, I'd kill to see one of their concerts. I've heard the atmosphere is
absolutely mind blowing. They've changed quite a bit now, and have really become a one of a kind. Through Silver In Blood is a classic, you should
really check it out.
This over-joys me

I will check it out. I did not know that they were even still around. Word as law ( i think there second ) is was also a favorite. I dig the link you
posted . I know that they started becoming more industrial, which they did well and in a unique way. I will do a little surfing and and see what
they have been doing since the mid to late 90's Just know that there are people that are still in to good out of the ordinary music makes me happy.

Word As Law was so-so. At that point I don't think they knew what they wanted to do. In 1991 the punk scene was pretty much gone and the grunge scene
was really starting to emerge. The year following the release of Word As Law they released Souls At Zero, which was a groundbreaking release IMHO.
This site has a lot of good info on them.
