Seashore Park DE Sat 11/27

The East Coast Kite Sports crew are meeting up at Seashore Park in DE on Saturday! Winds are going to be W at 15-18mph. Should make for some great riding! We usually park at Tower Rd. about 3/4 mile south of Tower Beach. Plan is for around 9am!
So far Rian, Todd, Chad, Lee, an myself are going to be there.

It would be great to see some others join us! Hope to see you there!

Edit:We will be parking at Tower Rd!

Wait a minute... what are the tides going to be this weekend?
I might just have to make this trip... Way too cold for kitesurfing (for me, but i'm sure some of the local DC crew will be on the water... bunch of freakin nutters)

Let me know the tides... I might join ya... :)

High tide is going to be right around 12ish. Rian said that we should still have plenty of hard pack where we are going!

12ish high tide? Unfortunately, the chances of me making it there before noon are not very good. Unless I left the house really freaking early tomorrow morning. I have a feeling traffic is not going to be very good, and I'll probably be stuck on the road for close to four hours. I think I'll have to pass on this one. Sorry. Maybe next weekend...

I just want to put a disclaimer out there.... Originally I had planned on heading down to the beach for the afternoon by myself, but seeing as how it's growing into a nice little get together (very cool by the way) I want to say that I knew beforehand that the tide conditions were not favorable and i've never buggied down there with an offshore wind. I just wanted to head down and check out what conditions were like so that I would know for future reference what to expect under these types of conditions. I normally fly down there at low tide with onshore winds, but onshore winds are not very common (offshore is) and i'm hoping to increase my sessions this fall/winter. It's only a 30-45min trip for me, so it would be no big loss for just me if things didn't pan out. But since others are planning to make the trip, I want it to be clear that I can't guarantee what the beach is going to be like. I was down last Sunday for an onshore/low tide session and there was quite a bit of beach, so i'm hoping there will still be a good amount of rideable hard park with the tide coming in this weekend. Also, the beach is a good size, but nowhere near the size of Wildwood, so your kite WILL BE over the water with an offshore wind. I'm in no way saying don't come or trying to discourage anyone from making the trip, I just want everyone to have an idea of what to expect. I hope everyone comes out regardless, as I look forward to at least being able to hang out with the ECKS team and other kiting friends! And for me...any day at the beach is a good day....especially with good friends!!!

Yeah we made it to Seashore Park. It was a day of ridiculous gust. We didn't last long on the beach. 36mph gust tend to make you feel a little uneasy! We moved inland to a local spot and had a great rest of the day! Hung out for Pizza afterwards and then The Maryland gang had the hit the road for the several hour drive home! It was a great day together. Pics and video could be on the horizon! Can't wait to catch up for a better riding day soon!

Are you talking about Schutte Park in Dover area? Just looked it up on the map. Curious if the wind was better there with the direction, than it was on the beach?

Kinda wish I had gotten out flying this weekend, but it was nice to just relax and play games all weekend. Glad you guys had a good time, and I'm looking foward to seeing the pictures and videos.

Great time this weekend, glad you guys made it out! Even though the winds were really gusty and made it a bit sketchy at times, it was great to hang out, especially on my home turf!

Yes, Schutte Park in Dover. The conditions were about the same, a tiny bit more calm in Dover, but still gusty. For it being an inland spot, you can get some really good sessions in there with a steady west wind, you just have to hope they aren't playing soccer. The beach was alright with the offshore wind, but it was extremely gusty. I think observed winds were around 25mph gusting over 35mph. And with the tide coming in and hard pack getting thin, we just retreated inland for safety and to keep people dry as it probably would have been a matter of time before somebody got yanked in, lol.

Aw... that would have provided for some great video footage. Though, probably for the best that you retreated. With the colder months coming in, I wouldnt think that you would have too much competition for the soccer fields. I'll try to make it out next time. Thanks for the field report.

I actually logged a little over 5 miles on the soccer field, and top speed of 21.5. Not too shabby for the soccer field and the winds we had! Not sure if I was flying the 3.5 or 5m when I hit the mark though!
