First off I am new here and new to this board thing and probably too old. anyway Hello.

I have just bought myself a load of bits and will end up with a Kheo Epsilon board., (its the engineer in me that makes me by crap and restore it). I want to know what size wheels to put on it? I am 6'4" and 15.5st and want it for kiting and some hill stuff, I think that I should be putting 9" wheels on. Please be gentle, I know there is probably better stuff I could have bought but it is a start.

Actually looking it up, the Epsilon was their top of the line board at the time and came with a carbon composite deck and bindings that compared favorably to MBS F3s.

If the bits you bought came with hubs then your tire sizes should be dictated by that. If not you are going to have to get yourself sorted for hubs first.

Most current mainstream hubs take 8" tires. A couple of hubs (GI Multi-Hub, MBS Tri-Spoke, etc) can take 8" or 9" inch tires.

Your tires are also going to require the appropriately sized inner tubes.

Some boards don't do well with larger tires, because of the shape of the board can lead to the tires making contact with the deck at extreme lean angles (wheel bite).

Once you are sorted for wheels and tires, you need to figure what bearings will mate the hubs to the axles. The outer diameter of the bearings for current hubs is 28 mm, the width is 8mm and the inner diameter will range from 8-12mm, depending on the axles you are using.

If you know know what model youre axles(/trucks) and hubs are, it should be fairly easy to look up.... otherwise there is always the caliper ;-)

indigo_wolf Thanks for that! My main sport is mountain biking and I wouldn't run the wrong wheel size on there because of handling and I was thinking it would be the same with a board but having posted on a great number of sites now, it appears that I am a lunatic!! Thanks for confirming what I first thought. I dont know what the original tyre size was but I am guessing 8". If anyone know please let me know.

Looks like OEM tires were 8" Kheo Racers on something similar to an MBS tri-spoke running 10 mm (ID) bearings/axles.

If you can step up to 12mm axles and channel trucks, they'll hold up to abuse better.
