Adam, if I didn't know any better I'd say you were more stoked on eating a bunch instead of flying!!

Woah. Missed this (old) thread.
I used to live in the Des Moines Metro, but just sold our house and am in the Cedar Rapids area now. I still need to find a good place around here to
go flying.

@flyjump: Thanks!
@graemelabat: Some of us don't have unlimited funds to travel all over the country, especially those of us still in college! Trust me, I'd love to
though... time and money... my two main obstacles.

Hello! I'm in process of relocating to DSM from Davenport and would like to get to know other flyers and areas to fly.
I fly a little of everything. Mostly SLKs but once their up I like to get out the REV or small power kites.
Is there a club in the area? I see Jim Taylor started one???

I live up at the Twin Lakes (30 min west of Ft. Dodge). I snowkite up here and use a switchblade on the ice, but this winter has not been very good
for either of those. So I bought a mountainboard to tool around with. Where in Des Moines do people land kite? My in-laws live in Johnston, so I'm
down in the area fairly often. It would be great to meet up sometime to share the stoke.

Sounds good man. I've been scoping out fields around here that will work. When I first got the land board, I thought the harvested bean fields would
work great, but the stubble is too sharp for land board tires. That leaves the alfalfa fields and grass fields. I had a pretty good session
yesterday down in Rockwell City at the Jr. High playing field.

whoa! haven't been on here forever! flyjump told me people have been posting on here. my number is (210)896-1931. i live in polk city right now and am
back in school but feel free to hit me up to go kiting! i am on spring break this week also.
really the only reliable place as far as wind is the field in front of Valley South Woods in West Des Moines.
There is a good field in Ankeny too but they always have people working the soccer complex that decided last year they will kick anyone off the fields
not using it for soccer purposes. every now and again i run out there and see if i don't get kicked off lol.
There are a few other fields but all of them add to the already horrible gusts Des Moines has already (I.E. Waterworks Park or the Johnston Library).
DMACC Ankeny Campus has an awesome field if your not using a board but the terrain is too jacked up to board on.

Joe et al
Nice to know there are some kiters in central Ia. Have been learning on my own here in Ames; still a newby.
Will give a shout in a couple weeks when work settles down a bit.
Thanks for putting out the shout,

I am living in Ames now for school. Hit me up!!!!! Went out today and yesterday. I have been going next to the Lied Fitness Center in the
soccer/football area and down on grand and 4th street in that baseball/volleyball/field goal area lol. Know any other good spots where it is mowed and
open enough?
