Soccer Fields?

There are soccer fields all over the place around where I live. But I've been reluctant to use them.

Is using the buggy on those fields a total no no?

How about just static flying?

What have been your experiences with kites and soccer fields?

RtZ you just have to be switched on, and try to keep kite high near goalposts

I bug on local sportsfields with no dramas

I too have to fly on soccer fields, most of the time. Just be careful about the goals, benches, and other potential obstacles.

Type this in on Google Maps: 30.679247,-97.934951

It's where I am. The big white area is a rock parking lot thing. I hate it. It's huge. So much room that I can't use for kiting on.

Pan East a bit and follow Sundance Trail until there's a Y intersection. The house to the South with the long bent driveway is mine :D

Cheers,
Seanny

yeah unfortunately where i live that is about all i can fly on.

no problems on any of the fields, one time a lawn mower guy came up and was like hey that is an awesome kite, i don't mind you doing that or riding the board out here but would you mind only riding in the directions we are mowing?......... not a big deal, dude was just crazy lol.

i just stopped using the board till he left again lol.

I fly on a soccer field half the time I fly. The rest of the time I am either on a beach or on a multi purpose field. Like the others said, you can fly the soccer fields, just know where your obstacles are and make sure you leave yourself an out!

Pretty much all my riding is at a soccer field. Last spring I rode at the official soccer fields in town and it would have been great if there weren't a pile of bleachers and goal posts in the way, mostly stayed in one of the pitches. When I was packing up due to a bunch of people showing for a game I was approached by one of the coaches. Here is basically how it went:

" Nice day for that I assume" I replied "yeah I've had a pretty good time this afternoon" the man then replied "its also a nice day to play soccer so get the hell out of here we have a game" I replied well I assumed that and was just packing up so don't worry about it" his reply "this is a soccer field not a #@%$#! skate park" then he kept walking. I asked another of the coaches if there was any issues that I was there when it wasn't in use and he said that if it wasn't in use then it was public ground for anyone to use at their will as long as it wasn't damaged. The other coach was just another volunteer like the rest of them.

The area was horrible from all the obstacles so I already had my mind on not going back. Just a shame that sports people think that if they show up that they run the show, and that you are under them.

Our local soccer fields are a great place for powerkiting sports. Unfortunately we need to be careful about when we use it...i.e. when nobody is around. They are very anal about anybody being on their precious field. I've been associated with the local soccer organization for about 11 years now (not my choice) and they are the biggest bunch of snobs I've been "associated" with in my life. I imagine the bottom line is it depends on who is running the show at your local fields.

Soccer fields and hay fields is what I have too. Perfect time for hay fields, nothing is growing, but its getting the farmer to understand. I have 15 acres of hay, but it is oriented NS and the wind is always coming from N or S. So unless I want to go in a constant turn, ugh.

Right now soccer season is over here...yippee! so they picked up all the bleachers and goalposts and left nothing but the light poles.
