Changes in skilled advice on here ?

Is it just me or am I seeing a bit of a second generation of PKF coming around ?

I came on to this forum a few years ago. At that point the folks I looked to for experienced advice were : Doomwheels, AJ, Speliopower, CoryLama, AirHog, Eli, Luke, Jellis and a few other names that don't show up much anymore. Even Angus posts less but has compiled such a good tutorial he doesn't need to. These are the names of the people who have brought me up in the sport .

It's great to see new folks getting company support ! It keeps PKF legit and fulfills the work set out by those above. I suspect many of those names are not known to many of the newer members but they have a whole new group to look up to.

I'm pleased to see this site continuing to be the best place I know to get top quality advice at pretty much any level ( on land ) With nothing but support , if you listen to advice.

Viva La new generation of " team " riders !

You guys on here gave me the best advice on what to start with and how to get going where I wanted to go (in the air!). I'm glad that there is so much encouragment on this forum. It definatly feels like a clubhouse instead of just a forum. I'm proud to be a member

I could only thank my friends and the many members of this board for all of the advice given to accomplish this. I'm rather quiet in the advice giving department because there are many experts in the field with far more years than I covering the subject well and I enjoy absorbing that info. There is a wealth of information on this board that will steer you in the proper direction, carry on and thank you.

I started here as well. While not a 'super poster' like some of these guys, I pretty much read most posts every day. It is a great community and I hope it stays that way.

Thanks to those who helped me!

This board is great! There is a wealth of information for up and comers! Lots of friendships have been created by this forum alone. I soak in as much as I can as well. The sport of Power Kiting is definitely on the incline in the U.S. thanks to the many helpful members on this forum.

Great thanks to the PKF!, and thanks for those who share their wisdom to keep this sport moving in the right direction!

Indeed it is!! :D You guys have been a great help. I'm trying to do my part in my community to get more teens to power kite, also. I fly mostly on a soccer field just a few feet down one of the only roads we have here. Most people will have to drive down it and see me there sometime!

Cheers,
Seanny

I here you on this !

This past weekend we hit an off the track lake. We thought it would just be us. Another Father Son team were out 1st timing with an 8m Neo2 . Another fellow showed up from Kamloops expecting to be all alone.

When I saw this I was super excited ! NOTHING like a group of kites to " paint the sky " on a new lake. It was BEAUTY in the Great White North EH!

That people pulling over on the road to watch thrill never wears off !

Wow Ken! That's awesome! :o

That's what my goal is to have here. People often pull in and watch me fly for a few minutes. If they have young kids, sometimes they get out and ask me to tell them about my "parachute" It's a good experience.

By the way, thanks for the stickers Adam! I'll be sure to check my mailbox :singing:

Cheers,
Seanny

Absolutely. I always get a thrill when I get close to the beach and see another kite/kites up.

Terrific forum this. At least being so far away, I can still watch your videos and stalk your kiting venues from the top of the google car !!!

Cheers and thanks to all

Amen

This is a great forum. I do a lot more reading than posting and its really noticable how down to earth and friendly people are - And how much knowledge people have.

I feel a bit isolated sometimes since I'm over in the UK and most of you guys are in the States or Canada but i feel that the PKF community shares my attitude to kite sports more than others I have tried and thats more important than being familiar with locations etc

There has been a slow "changing of the guard" here. Several names don't seem to be around anymore while many new faces have provided great contributions with what they have learned. The sport seems to be growing so we probably are as well.

The sport has changed for sure in the past few years. I'm from a pure kite and windsurfing background. When I started "powerkiting" it was with our stunt kites on rollerblades in the 90's. The one thing I have noticed is kitesurfers at least in the ocean going back to surfboard type boards and working on waveriding. Which I like.

Honestly I don't run around with the kite flying crowd anymore. It seems the 'tude and vibe I get when I am around the folks is a turn off and I just leave. Especially when I am riding my 11 year old board and foil kites in the ocean. Or maybe it's me being older and cranky----I don't know. hahahahaaa

A few years ago I saw the sport "explode" with new talent and new ideas. It kinda left me behind because I just am not interested in inflatable or depower kites and kites that lose almost all their resale value in a couple of years.

For me the sport is a kite flying sport and I try to fly the most difficult to control kites in the most demanding situations. I wouldn't care if I can pull off the biggest kiteloop to snazzy spin there is if I'm flying a water relaunchable, autozenthing, depowering, safety kite. But to pull off a huge kiteloop to snazzy spin with an open cell foil way out in the ocean with no backup -now that takes kite flying skill. Not that I can pull that off but I hope ya'll get my drift.

-Scott
p.s. I hardly fly anymore because my jetski is proving more difficult to learn than kites. I had to post this pic of me on my ski just because.....the adrenaline rush on that wave was epic.
