Bar question!

My Psycho3 13 arrived the other night ... the kite is in great condition, the lines are good but the bar needs some love - new CL goes without saying but the trim strap needs replacing and the bar does too ...

Can't buy the bar anymore so was thinking ...

Build up a Navigator mutant - bar, CL, trimmer and leaders?
Or just buy a FS Infinity upgrade bar for E250 and be done with it?

The thing is I don't like the Infinity bar that much :D

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Get the bar you want, mutant or otherwise. Life's too short to fly on a bar that makes you feel like you're dating a cousin. :shocked2:

I have all the Navigator center spare parts, from chicken loop up, if you need.

You're not much help Sam

Still undecided at the moment ... definitely need at least ONE Ozone Megatron CL for the S2 though.
The Nav bar from parts - does it come with the rear leader lines included?

If you already have an order from Angus, get some of the Q leaderline pro. It has a good tactile feel to it and it floats. 2000lb test.

No. That's why I mentioned center parts only. But like Bobby said you can use Q Leader Pro which is affordable; I just don't have the floats. They do not part out the leaders and floats unfortunately

Ah. Well that's silly then isn't it! And I assume you can't get a complete bar without the lineset either?

You could always sell the lineset.

Luke.... it's me, Dad. Sell your lightsaber and buy the bar.

Perfectly understandable.... unfortunately, parting out a Navigator doesn't save you any money..... the exact opposite.

Any chance of picking up an earlier PL bar and upgrading the CL?

Sam

May as well just get the Ozone CL then ...! Which I think I'll probably do ... will have to make some Oh#@%$#! handles though for the weird Psycho3 rear leader lines ... which is a problem, cos I'll have to use like 15mm wide webbing on the small rings and the only place I've seen THAT is in the pet shops - leashes for cats :o so of course, they're all hideous colours

Let me know how much of the webbing you need, I am pretty sure you can get it throug a camping supply store or some place like http://www.strapworks.com (yes, this is bookmarked and yes I spend too much time on the web). You can specify manly-colors only.

Sam

Thanks Sam! Good link!

All requires importing from the US though doesn't it :( the other problem is I like to feel it before I buy it :D bought some 20mm webbing from a sewing store and it's too hard and plasticky ... and I don't know the difference between the types cos natually, it's all called either the same thing or something completely different here - and I want something like the PL handles :D
The stiff stuff'll be fine to replace the spar straps on the Kitewing but is too stiff to make O.S handles out of ... it ain't that bad, the leashes are pretty cheap and you get a good length out of them :)

If you don't find anything suitable, let me know if you need someone to play gopher. I can always check the camping supply and marine stores local to see what they have. That way I can get a feel for it first hand if you trust my judgement :o and OCD-like nature .

I can also get on the horn with Strapworks... they seem pretty cool (family run business) and knowledgable ("straps... it's all we do").

Fabric store stuff never seems to be technical enough.... form over function.

Sam

Yeah true that ...

I drove all the way (200km there and back!) out to a shop in Kobe today called "Cosmo Marine" ... the shop is 6 shipping containers stacked on top of each other :o they do, however, have a mountain of kick-ass stuff! :singing: bought me about 30m of various sizes of Amsteel Blue, a pair of Ronstan Orbit pulleys and ... da-dah-dah-daaah! some Sailkote :bouncy:

... now, what can I make? :D

Errr...ummm.... I'm not sure... perhaps we can make guessing a PKF contest. Surely there's a video in there some place.
