Pansh fb 3 kite quiver V.S. 1 ozone/skycountry depower depower
Hey all! new to the forum. Thanks to whoever put this site together, it is a true wealth of knowledge and encouragement especially to someone as
green as I am.
Anywho, I live in Houston and currently own a 4m scout with the X-Over control bar, decent kite... (wish it were a true 4 line with handles) Over the
past year and a half i've made it out to Galveston a number of times... only problem I have found with a 1 4m fb kite quiver is that the conditions
have got to be perfect to really have a good time on my mbs landboard.
So I ran into Van in Galviston the other day and he was demoing the new Pansh Flux (pass the Pansh) and let me have a go with it for about 30min... it
handled beautifully and was such a joy to fly. I felt like i had more control and that it responded much better than my scout. So then Van told me
about the promotion Pansh was having on that kite as well as the package deals. Looking on the website I could get a 3 kite quiver which includes the
new 4m flux (great reviews - i like it), 5m ace (mixed reviews), and 10m blaze (mixed reviews mostly good - get what you pay for reviews) for under
300$ all fixed bridle. Now I am usually not someone to go for cheeper (price) things. Most times than not I buy quality over quantity. I have also
read that you can buy 1 depower kite that can replace a 2-3 fb kite quiver and can be safter and more controllable than fixed bridle kites. Have read
great reviews on the (not so well known) Skycountry Alasca with its "friendly power" as well the prestigious ozone access/frenzy which i would
probably buy used...
I'm 6ft 175 lbs brown hair blue eyes - If anyone has any opinions on which kites or kite I should "hook-up" with i'd really appreciate it. I mean,
don't get me wrong, the scout was good for a season but I feel like she's just holding me back at this point, and I have to be true to myself.
thanks!

Good question but OH SO open ended ?
There is no such thing as a single kite quiver. To cover all winds I find I need 3 kites . ( so if 3 are good 20 must be great ! )
I think a good cheap setup is a large open cell for next to no wind days. A depower that will cover your average winds and then a small non lifty open
cell for the extra high wind / self presevation winds.
If I had to go all Pansh I think for my style I would have a Blaze II depower as my " go to " kite. Add the cost of new bar and lines to a Blaze II
and you can find other kites at a competetive price ?
So much of it all depends on what you choose to ride and in what conditions !
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

With what they are offering on their website right now,(and you are my size,200#) if you were to buy their 10M Blaze2 combined with their 12M Ace you
would qualify for at least 1 of their 2 free kites,(maybe talk them into throwing in both?) the 4M Flux or the First racekite(forget the size) If you
could get a good used de-power bar you would have a pretty good set-up,on the cheap, if all came in good, flyable condition. If you are new to the
sport, I'd just try to hook up with someone willing to loan you something to learn on, and show you the ropes. I think that combo might be too much
for a beginner.
EDIT: This is just mu .02, what do I know, the only Pansh I've flown is the Flux I just go in the "pass the pansh' going around. I have been
intrigued ever since I read Kami's statment that if you can launch the 12M Ace, you're goin' scuddin'! I like the Blaze II graphic, and have seen
them on the snow, seem to work O.K. for the pilot that knows how they fly. And that electric GREEN of the Flux that keeps making me want to look at
it again.

Blaze2 is a de-power, it doen't come with a bar, though. so you have
to find a depower bar used.(Or new, your preference) Blake seems to be the go-to guy on setting them up, maybe he can help. Oh darn, I just re-read
the title, guess it wasn't all there before. Ozone and Sky Country both have para-glider roots, so quality is a plus on both, but the Flux I am
trying, seems quite well made for the "price"!

I have flown the Sky Country AlaSCa . " Friendly Power " sounds like a good description.
The material the AlaSCa comes in is unique. I think it gives it a better bottom end. I also like the screening on the inlets. Not much will get
through there.
I think I would prefer an AlaSCa to a Blaze II. It costs more but comes with a Slingshot or Ozone bar ?

You can get three Kia(s?) for half the price of a Porsche. Does this mean you want them or the Porsche? Pansh kites are inexpensive to buy, but if
you sell them for half what you paid after a couple of flights it is not quite such a good deal.

are you looking for the newest greatest depower, go Ho-Zone hands down.
how old is the Alasca? 4 years?
its comparable to the Ho Zone Frenzy, the first gen one, not the 2011.
even though many dislike pansh ... its a good starter for those on a budget. also assuming you get one without any issues, but with pansh giveaways,
im sure they have a good return policy. I swear they just need to employ a few good pilots on their R&D and they can make a better name for
themselves. i was talking to a Pansh Team Pilot at WC, and he gets his bridles custom made to length.
if you're looking for resell value after a season, big brand names hold their value longer. Flysurfer also makes wicked depowers and cross over to
water use as well.

Darren,
Glad you found your way to the forum. I do miss that Green Flux .. it is a pretty nice kite. Bobalooie57 has it now. Take care of my baby .. I miss
her already :P
Seriously, I have a few other kites you can try out next time I go to Galveston. You should see Dylan's face when he tried the 17m Flysurfer speed
the other day ... it's freaking fast on an ATB. I'm sure you'll get plenty of help on kite choice here. I take the easy way out, I just buy one of
each brand ....haha .... they are all great kites to me, each one with a different personality. You just have to find one that will treat you right
and not whip your ass. I was talking about the kite, not wife. :singing:

Rip, I would still rather have a four year old Porsche than new Kia.

If you're comparing a reflex to a sprint. It's no Kia, refer to WC.

Back on topic...
1 big FB kite + 1 Depower would work for most winds. The 3 FB kites works too.
I am not a fan of Pansh but I have not flown one for a long time. I hear the quality control is better now but you still can't go wrong with a kite
from any of the bigger kite companies.

Yes you'll have to find a used one. The CH is the replacement.
