After watching the awesome video rip posted of someone using an ATB with blades in place of wheels I got thinking of how to make my own set. My
thoughts brought me to wonder if one could get a single skate blade fashioned to run along the center of an atb deck. My idea is to have a blade made
to look similar to how the white mold and blade are made on the bottom of a hockey skate. Looked around the net a bit to see it there would even be a
skate maker to make it but no luck.
So my questions are:
1) Would this even be a doable option???To start sitting down like in the water with the board strapped on, use the kite to pull you to your feet and
balance on the single blade and have the momentum and leaning away from kites pull to keep you balanced and cruzing smoothly on ice. My thoughts were
that a single blade set low enough might make for a fast edging well balance and controllable ride once you figured out the basics. Imagine the speed
possibilities, and having the ability to turn and stop like a hockey player.
2) Where would someone go to get this design properly built?? Would it be best to have the blade hug tight to the full board, or have it only attached
on either end where the skate trucks mount leaving free flex of the deck and avoiding additional mods to the deck. Making it nice to switch between
the blade for winter use and the trucks with wheels for summer.
Please share your thoughts here cuz I'm seriously considering this depending on how much $$ it would cost to set up.
Thanks
Shaggs

There is an already manufactured product that's quite similar, but for the love of pete I can't recall the name.
About 170cm, looks like a snowboard w/no bindings, has a single offset bladed edge on the bottom. Has stars & stripes on it. Anyone have any
idea what I'm talking about? Was a product that was supposed to make snowkiting more like kitesurfing....
gah, wish I could recall the name!

thanks for the interest guys!!!! From zero gee's links I'm gonna look into getting some used skates and taking off the holders and runners. If it will
work I'm gonna try to first mount them on a shaped sheet of plywood similar to the freeze mako. The designer sounded like he had some issues, but I
still want to try it myself. Should be cheap enough and if it fails I'll just suck it up and go for the switchblade next winter

Thanks to the "related videos" of phree's latest Daily Grind, I was able to find the name of the board I was talking about earlier. it's the
Snowfer..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qf1HfgKqB8 (I think they are flying some sort of c-quad...).
It seems the sort of thing you'd be able to get at swap meets for cheap from people who have tired of theirs...
Tech sure has come a long way. Some of the new products look just crazy.
