very large land sailing rigs?

this topic is kind of out of the ball park.

But I was wondering if anyone ever managed to convert a sailboat for land use. Has thereever been an attempt at a very large land sailing vehicle. Kind of like a boat on land? Cabin etc.?

Yes Scoop, the Windjet.
In fact it was on Ivanpah again, 10 days ago waiting for wind.

Excuse me gents,
The WindJet IS NOT the world land speed record holder.
At this point, only a pretender to the throne.

The land speed record holder is the Iron Duck.
Pictures of a variety of landsailers, including the Iron Duck, may be found on my website at:

www.windpowersports.com/pictures/landsailing.html

As flotation is not an issue on dry lakes, there would be no reason for a hull.
Weight is an issue, however, and any superstructure would slow things down considerably.

Another reason we set up camp along the shore.
