Sucky day.

School sucked. Came home, found nothing to eat. Decided to get on my laptop. Figured out I'm going to have to spend $120 on something I don't want or need. Decided to go kiting. Froze my a$$ off. Hit a divot in the ground at about 30 mph. Hit the deck. Couldn't pull my strop out of the spreader hook in time. Kite powered back up before I could say oh #@%$#!. Dragged me 40 feet through a crushed rock parking lot. Cut everywhere, broken strop loop on my handle, badly sprained right wrist. I just wrapped the lines around the handles and shoved the unfolded kite into my truck and went home. I now have a colossal mess to untangle downstairs.

Is it Friday yet.

Thanks guys. I think if I could have had it one way or the other, I'd trade the wrist sprain for nice straight untangled lines any day. This could take hours...

You think I'm joking, don't you Furb? Actually, it was 8 miles to school on a bicycle (one speed, made in 1940's) and I only had a summer uniform - riding to school in shorts in < 0'C wasn't fun ...

I never got around to it, but I would have made the "let go handles, strop releases" version that's floating around somewhere too ...

sorry to hear about that seanny, glad you're ok though.......about that divot....... about a year and a half ago me and a buddy were kiting in this HUGE field i had found--we were having a blast flying all over the place in the buggy--i was easily going 30 when i saw a hole about 2 ft wide and it looked deep--it came upon me so quickly, i wasnt able to avoid it--luckily, at the speed i was going, i went right over it--any slower, it probably would have gotten me, it was a deep hole, about 2 ft deep--after that scare, i always inspect new fields very carefully before i buggy or board--heal up fast, you've got more kiting to do!

Whoa. That is a sucky day.

I have flirted with soccer goals, gravel and asphalt. Never got into serious trouble, though.

The guys are right. You'll heal up. Faster than some of us gray hairs on here.

Take your time with the lines. Sometimes you have to walk away. Otherwise a knife or scissors are waaay too tempting.

I take it you were flying a Fixed bridle? Once you get that Venom up things will be a bit more civil on your flying days. Rest, heal, and learn - tomorrow is another chance to do it right.

Yeah. Twister II 4.1 in ~15 mph gusting to 32. I didn't even feel overpowered. It wasn't the kite at all, actually. Of course, if it wasn't attached to me with a strop and I didn't get dragged across rocks, that might have made it a little bit better.

Get to a doctor for an x-ray on that wrist! Delicate thingies in there, you don't want to mess with them ...

Untangling lines is no problem for me ... except when I'm wanting to be flying :D

Sean, how bad is the swelling dude? If it is really big ,or you have deep looking buise ,you might want to get it XRayed. There are ALOT of little bones in there that are easily crushed. And deep bruising could be sign of torn muscle tissue or ligament damage. The day after I killed my shoulder this wierd lookin bruise showed up on the back of my shoulder and you could tell it wasn't a surface bruise ,but a bleed out from deep within. I just figured I tore some muscle tissue.Come to find out I broke the cartilidge off the bone AND tore some muscle tissue.

It's a pretty funky bruise. Not the biggest and most disgusting I've seen, but it's enough to have me a bit concerned. I've broken quite a few bones... including a double compound fracture in my left arm (it is now about an inch shorter than my right one  ) I can almost diagnose myself at this point. An X-Ray couldn't hurt, though. My mom is an RN... she looked at it last night and said it was still too early to tell what it is. I'll have her look at it again when I get home today.
