it's actually KTAI with "international" on the end, which is likely why Google stumbled on it. It s 95% Single line, stunters, wind toys/ spinners. If any power kite mfr tried to make a major announcement there, few attendees would understand it. Maybe just Kent and Corey.

I'm not knocking it or the industry, it's just the impression I got a couple of years back when it was in FLA and convenient for me to go.

Used to be only HQ there for power kites (they make and sell the other stuff too), now Rip is there for Peter Lynn, so that is good.

Good read from Kent in a thread started by John Chilese over here:
http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?topic=4781.new;topicseen

Pics here:
https://picasaweb.google.com/chilesej/KTAI2011LasVegas#

Interesting pics of the Beamer IV and Alpha (new HQ foil). Not sure what the Red/White/Black kite is, but nice panel layout.

Hopefully John Baressi will post some additional info in the next issue of KiteLife.

ATB,
Sam

I doubt anything new for power kiters is coming out of KTAI and I think we will have to wait for NABX. I'm a PL dealer and they are pretty well zipped up.

Actually, quite a few new things. :)

HQ was there in full force with new kites. The Crossfire series is being phased out and will be replaced with a brand new design sail called the Toxic (red and black kite shown in the photo's above). The Toxic is a higher aspect ratio kite designed for the intermediate kite flier that wants more performance than the Beamer series delivers but doesn't want all the fussiness that the Prodigy and other high performance race foils have. Both kites on the wall are 4.0 Meter foils so you can see the difference in profile shapes and aspect ratios.

They are also talking about another style water kite that will be higher performance than the Neo series, referred to as the Neo's big brother. :) Can't wait for more info on that one too! The Rush Pro's are still available as 3 line trainers w/bars. All new packaging for all the kites which looks much more streamline and user friendly. Not nearly as bulky as the older packaging.

Rip basically said what is happening from PL, the new designs on the current foils along with the Phanny II coming later this year....and that new LEI thingie. LOL

BTW, the Peter Lynn booth looked awesome with the big Charger arch and all. Rip and Brian did an awesome job, it was really great having them there this year.

Sky Dog also had a huge display with their power kites which are gaining more popularity every day. Prism was also there with a very nice display with the Tensor power kites.

There is also rumor that Ozone and Flexifoil will be attending the KTAI next year. All we need to have then is PKD & JoJo and the KTAI will have basically all major power kite manufacturers in one spot.

*****DEALERS!!!*****
It was an excellent convention and even larger than last year's numbers. It's a shame that more Power Kite dealers aren't taking advantage of what the KTAI is offering. If you missed this year, you missed a ton! I highly recommend you plan on attending next year's event. Next years event is being held in Vegas as well.

I seem to recall Tim from Airtime board sports, our local wind/kitesurf shop going to a convention of a similar kind for kitesurf products? I sort of thought that's what this was.

Does anybody know where and when thekitesurf trade show is happening?

Not to be a wet blanket but much of the news you describe goes back to September '10. When I went to KTAI in Destin, FL, the big news was the Flitter Fairy toy (actually kinda cool for kids).

But with PL there and the prospect of the others, it sounds like a game changer and I will def take a new look. I remain a KTAI member.
