wicked ice racing today

It's been really mild and melting a lot the last two days but the forecast is for cold temps tonight. The house has been rattling from the wind all afternoon so I had to run over to the small lake nearby to see what the ice conditions are like - lumpy grey ice not quite melted smooth and puddles and slush surface - but the wind is gusting to 40mph and I see three ice fishing huts racing across the lake. Nobody towing them. One get's a good lead and heads way down the lake before catching an edge and tipping over in a big gust.
Great race, but I think I could have taken him!

I wish, blowing and white outs again for driving in this area - trying to find out what the conditions are like up there for surface. The snow melted down here but very lumpy ice, lots of track marks etc. If anyone posts what it's like that way I might be out tomorrow.
Thinking of heading over to the small lake to see how an ice buggy handles the lumpy conditions - probably rattle my ass off. I'll post a little video of this morning's conditions out there.
