PL Vapors falling apart

seems a few Vapors falling apart from what I hear on the UK racing scene.....

" Bridles pull out, no reinforcements at connection points plus overpowered = BANG!"

okay so the subject is Vapors falling apart - which sounds like all of them, then the comment says "a few" so just wondering was it really one or two people with a couple of kites.
I wonder if it really is a problem or a couple of kites that had defects (because they do have re-inforcing) that might be missed until something happens?

Where is this discussion - racekites or kitecrowd or?

hmmm,.strange story,..I had a serie in the first fabric,....raced more then a year with it, now I have my new set with the new fabric... nicer colour, quality the same or better preformance, I weigh, 120 kg, driving ALWAYS overpowered AND agresive,...

So, I think that they will do fine....if you land them upside down, full throtle...hmm I do not know what will happen with any kite...

Best regards,
Ozzy...

If Ozzy can't break them, then I would think it might have been abuse. If there was a defect I am sure they would take care of it.

Let me get this straight: someone heard about someone else somehow crashing a vapor, so decides to open a topic "Vapors falling apart", without even posting a source? ... really?

Me: Dutch Flyboarder ... but not the kind you\'re thinking of.
Power: PL Vibe 1.8 (1.9 mod) - PL Vibe 1.9 - PL Vibe 2.3 - PL Hornet 2.0 - PL Twister 4.1 - PL Twister 5.6
Wind Range: Riding: 11 - 38 knots. Jumping: 12 - 21 knots.
Ride: Trampa (14ply 35deg channels)
Wants: PL Reactor II 6.9 - PL Impulse TR 3.0
Former gear: Libre Dragonboard Sirius - PL Guerilla 13 - Flysurfer Speed I 10 - Ozone Manta II 10
Homemade: PL Vibe 1.8 - Star 6.0 (Depower) - 3 Nasawings - Pixie 1.5 (fun foil) - Flowform 3.0 (slk) - Frog (laundry)
Dilemma: If you work, you have money for kites but no time to fly them. If you don\'t work, you have plenty of time to fly kites, but no money to buy them. Either way, we\'re all screwed... :)

The source came from Facebook.

I've had my team series for one season and no issues just a few pin holes from the beach (shells) at world cup. We ripped a few of the smaller sizes at nabx last year but also keep in mind that we were out in massive wind most would not venture in. Something has to give.

If it was factory, PLP will replace it and make things right.

We have been selling the Vapors since they were first released. At this time we have never had a single Vapor returned to us for any type of defect or issue. The quality control and durability of the Vapor (and all of the Peter Lynn kites) appears to be top notch - according to our sales and own experiences.

Dealing with Peter Lynn directly, I can assure anyone that if there is an issue of any kind, Peter Lynn Products will do whatever possible to rectify the problems without any hassles at all.

As mentioned, direct blows into the ground at full force will destroy any power kite, regardless of who made it or what model it is. With our experience with the Vapors and the conditions we use them in here, I would have to assume that this would be a major factor to the problems / issues that the facebook user is experiencing.

Just my two cents worth. :)

boyza, its like going into a manchester pub and shouting united are #@%$#!, what reaction do you expect to get? we all know peter lynn build quality is beyond reproach and anything that got missed by quality control would be rectified, so i dont see where you are trying to go with this thread? if you want to bash a brand, have a look in your own back yard before you trash a name that is deep in the game!!

Yes, boyza your wording in your initial post wasn't informative, but inflammatory. Exaggerated and inflammatory statements will always start a flame war. There is only 1 that looks bad in this exchange.

Aidz and Ryan did get first and second on the vapors
One guy lost a 5m but that was run over by a buggy and ended up in 4 bits. The same guy crashed his 4m and 7 cells went also his 3m but that went in the air no crash. Big ken had cell blow in his 3m and he is a big guy we think it was caused by the deep water crossings and shock load but also matt lost a few bridle points and he must be 7 stone wet.
All the other kites went home in good shape

I don't think that Kiteboyza was attempting to attack Peter Lynn directly. Or trying to start a flame war. He was simply talking about an issue that was being discussed on Facebook and making the users of PKF aware of it.

Regardless, no kite is totally indestructible and under extreme conditions where products are pushed to their utmost limits, failures are bound to happen.

Talking about kite brands is like talking about car manufacturers. You are never going to convince a Ford loyalist to purchase a Chevy product. Neither are you ever going to convince a Flexifoil fan to purchase an Ozone product.

When comparing the performance of high end race kites ---- well, it really comes down to the pilot - much more than the kite ever could be. There are tons of arguments about how many first place finished both the Vapor and/or the Yakuza GT have received. Truth be told, either of these kites in the hands of an experienced race pilot would be a masterful combination that would be hard to beat. People who think that by purchasing "Kite A because THAT pilot won with it" they will instantly become a world class race contender are not really living in reality. I admire the skills these race pilots have, but they didn't just go out and buy a Vapor, they worked on their skills, learned, trained and became the pilot they are today. The equipment only helps them achieve their goals, it doesn't guarantee they will get them.

The way I see it, it doesn't matter what brand/make/model/color/shape/ride you fly as long as the smile on your face is as big as possible. That's all that really matters.

Anyways, that's my two cents.
