GoPro and iPad ??

Has anyone put HD mp4 footage (ie: GoPro) straight into an iPad (I believe there's an SD card adapter available) If so, how did it play ??

Good, but the caveat is that you cannot play 1080 - only 720. It just has to import the file onto the ipad so I would keep the clips short.

Cool. I take it the import process is a tad slow ? So a 20 minute file would take 10 minutes to upload - or something like that? I wonder if the iPad 2 (which has a dual processor - I think) may speed that up a bit. The 1280x720 mp4's would look pretty good on the ipad methinks.....

As far as I know the iPad 2 will support 1080p playback (with the new processor) so one can only assume the editing capability is there.

But again, the storage only goes up to 64GB so with music and other video/images/apps, I would imagine it would fill up quickly.

I transfer all my raw/converted files to a hard drive - which is filling up quick. The iPad would be handy for viewing the files and making notes on which bits are any good - particularly if I'm down at the beach for a few days - then transfer them to the hard drive and edit. Then the smaller edited video would make it's way back to the iPad. There's currently 122gb of video on the hard drive but only about 10% of it gets used in the final vids.

I would also assume that Apple will release a version of iMovie for the iPad. Well, someone is bound to release a video editor sooner or later....

Yeah, if you load up footage - say 20 gigs - process it - save the finished product and delete the trimmings, you're down to half a gig which you could always export... Part of the appeal of the new iMovie on IPad is a touch interface for editing, seems like it certainly has it's merits - especially for $5.
