Ok folks its your turn to blog and boast....................I really enjoy watching vids/hearing your accounts since I cant make it
out...............so dont be shy..................
I posted 'The Best Thing' under the buggying thread - it's basically a video account of my buggying journey so far - well, the best bits! There have
been a few days where things just didn't go right or the wind was too gusty to fly, but they have been few and far between thankfully. It's taken me
a long time to find a hobby that is relaxing, provides a bit of adrenaline but without the fear of death!! and something that I can be physically
involved with. Unlike say, RC plane flying - which I have a lot of fun with but I'm not physically connected to the plane. I had a short stint
learning to fly full size gliders but there was always the fear of 'what if' in the back of my mind. That and the time the instructor grabbed the
controls from me without giving me any warning that he was going to do a stall turn. Frightened the crap out me.
I've enjoyed flying stunt kites for nearly 30 years and when I first saw a picture of a kite buggy....
I'm not a highly skilled flyer by any means and I can't do any fancy buggy tricks but I feel pretty close to an expert at enjoying myself!! There
aint nothing else I'd rather be doing.
I really like that, John. I think there's a deeper meaning in power kiting for
all of us than meets the eye. Aoxomoxoa is different from person to person. I know I kite because it's something I can be good at, do on my own time,
and just let myself relax. When I have a rough day, I know I can throw on "Life On A Chain" by Pete Yorn and fly my kite and ride my board. Whose
going to bother me? The air is free.
I think it's pretty cool being a teen in today's society that does this kind of thing. It's unique, for sure. Around here, people just don't
understand. And they will never understand. Which is fine with me. I was never really one for team sports; being somewhat of a loner, kiting is the
only escape for me. I just hope I can make something more of it and improve my skills, so I can really show the world what I'm made of.
I had to look that up lol!! I think from time to time I do actually find that kiting. Weird word though! Where on earth did it come from? If my
interpretation is correct - It's being completely immersed in the moment and not thinking or worrying about anything else. Just completely enjoying
being there. Yep, it's a good kiting session when that happens.

I had more or less success depending on the type of glue and type of bark it was applied to.
