Back Country Snowboarding

2 things I'm looking to do when I move out to the beautiful rocky mountains.

1) bring my kite up a lift on a windy day and instead of hiking to to terrain, kite there. My concern is if or when the kite pops up over the peak. I'm in aviation, and can expect drastic changes in wind, as well as turbulence. Is it a huge No-No to take a kite up that high? Obviously I'd be using very new lines and make sure everything was looking good so I wouldn't have to worry about an equipment malfunction. But I'm just seeing a huge gust possibly bringing me up and over the peak, to God knows what is waiting for me on the other side

2) I want to go into the back country not at a resort, and ride the kite up and around all day, then ride down at the end of the session.

This pretty possible in Colorado, utah, or Lake Tahoe area?

Hey

I don't know anything about the area your kiting in but I do know wind accelerates up hill.
Your probably going to have to play around a bit with turbulence around cliffs and outcroppings of rocks, but unless your on a really sharp peak you won't fly. Most of the video's of guys soaring in the mountains are of pros or experienced riders rigged with a kite way overpowered so soaring is possible.
Have fun and be safe, wish I could try.
