Looks like we'll have to come as well. Is it kid friendly? My 14 year old son has become enamored with the buggy brotherhood and would be pissed if
he was left home.

Hey Sailors,
The Memorial Day Weekend is upon us and I hope you all are having fun.
Please don't mistake a lack of chatter on this forum for anything other that we are mostly out playing and don't need much of a reminder that Sprang
Thang is just around the corner.
Ivanpah has been outstanding the last 5 or 6 weekends with plenty of wind and reasonably cool temps.
Let's hope the trend continues through our little gathering.
El Mirage Buggytown will spring up about 3.5 miles up the lake bed from the entry road.
We set up on the right side, next to the track we like to run through the "pucker bumps" and across the lake bed from the wind sock pole marking
"Sailors Bay" where the land sailers tend to gather.
We'll probably be the largest camp out there, being the weekend after the big three day holiday weekend.
I am planning on pulling in Friday sometime around mid-day or early afternoon.
Hope to see a few of you there.
Safen Up! Buggy On!

Just talk to the folks at the Palm Springs windfarm and they said the windspeed is 40mph. I hope that wind holds until next week when I show up. I'll
be using my jacket for a kite.

Can't wait... looking forward to some buggy time this weekend.
We will probably roll in early Saturday morning -- depends on who is driving and who is sleeping :-)
See you at Elmers.

Hey Sailors,
Yikes!
We forgot to race!!!!!!
Pretty spectacular winds all weekend - numerous direction changes daily - some approaching 180 degrees and some within an hour (quite dramatic).
Plenty for everyone, except it seems, the BLM, who sent two Rangers, and felt it necessary to question us about a $5 donation button on one of Dan's
web pages.
(Check out www.buggythang.org or www.nakedbuggy.com to see Dan's response)
Gee, coming to the desert used to be fun... Now we realized it can include confrontation. What has happened to our culture? Are all assumed guilty?
Still, the temperatures were very nice, cool at night and warm during the day, and the assemblage was outstanding! Great group of folks to buggy with.
Dan reports the SCTA will be on Elmers the weekend after Labor Day, running their jalopies and hotrods and speeds over 200mph (some of them) so we'll
wait until two weekends after to gather out there again.
Put Sept. 16-17-18, 2011 on the calender now.

Ricky: Didn't get a chance to do the naked thang.
It was cold in the evening - I was worried about shrinkage amongst other things.
