long throw bar short arms

Yesterday I caught an edge while snowkiting, thus catching a wingtip and crashing my speed 2. I rolled into a seated position and grabbed for the leader lines to reverse launch, but my short arms only allowed me to grab the first ball. It took quite a bit of fumbling around to get a hold of the second ball on both lines so that I could get a good reverse launch. In a standing position I have no problems reaching for the third ball. I figured that I should get real good at doing it in a seated position, so that I when I'm in the water, I don't have to struggle as much.

In the manual it states that grabbing only one line to pull it to the edge of the window, like one does with an arc, can only be done with the 15m and 19m. Is there any reason why that is???? I can't be the only short fella out there, so I'm just curious if anyone here has any tips on how they work around this issue????

Thanks
Shaggs

Dunno ... reverse launch is all I use - I seem to remember reading that one line launches CAN'T be done on the 19 ...?

Grab the balls and pull them back then bunch them into one hand - you usually don't need to reach out for the second. At least, I don't on the 19 ... make sure your trim strap is full out too, that'll help ...

That might be the issue I was having. The wind picked up and I had to have the trim pulled right in so I could hold a line. I'll try letting some out next time.

Hi

I have the same issue and I pretty much do as Kami says, just keep walking up the line and bunching it until you have the 3rd ball. I usually only grab the third on one side and the second on the other.

Thanks John.. I was pretty much doing just that. It was real klumsy with winter mitts on. I was digging around and one of the pages I was on; more or less pointed out that in higher winds, with nose down, just let the trim out a bunch and sometimes just pulling the bar in is enough for a reverse launch. The scary part for me then would be a fully powered kite. I guess you'd just have to fly it to the edge of the window right away.:dunno: I really shouldn't have drank coffe as a kid and I wouldn't have these issues:smilegrin:

I think I messed up my Psycho3 by trying to one-line launch ... I'm thinking as it dragged L.E. down across the window, it sucked a bunch of water into it which caused some issues on the relaunches and I ended up going to safety cos it was too cold to float around thinking about it ... then I got it caught in a bamboo branch on the shore and ripped it
