When you send your son to check wind speed
I was out with my Apex this AM and had a good time. I wanted to go out again when my oldest boy came home from school. The wind conditions looked
like they were weakening.
I sent him with my anemometer out to the field by our house to check the wind speed. He came back and excitedly told the wind was steady between
10-15mph.
I thought great. Let's grab the Apex and the Viper and the boards and head out to the field.
On the walk to the field the wind seemed pretty light to me, but then again we had to walk through the housing area to get there.
When we got out on the field and I checked the wind again I got readings of 3-5mph.
I asked my son. How fast was the wind blowing? He told me that while he was riding his bike on the way to the field he got constant readings of
10-15mph.
:shocked2:
I asked him again.... what did you just say. He looked up, thought for a moment and then his faced turn red as he realized all the readings he took
were while he was riding his bike over to the field. He never stopped and went out in the field and took a real reading.
BeamerBob asked me to share this with you folks here at PKF. So enjoy. It will be great banter here at my house for some time to come.

What a great story! The excitement he must have had knowing he was going to be able to fly when he got back and gave you the readings. I really got a
kick out of this story!
Thanks so much for sharing!

This is also funny because I told him "Angus is going to love this and probably work it into his tutorials". It really does make the talk of apparent
wind understandable to those trying to grasp it. Its a really funny "human" story though all by itself. One the teenager won't soon forget.

meter and started blowing it as hard as she could to see what it would register--she got 33mph--i beat her with 35--guess my mouth is bigger than i
thought.......
