My new strop. (Home brew.)
I misjudged the thickness of rope I would need so now I have a super thick strop w/ an average strength of 13,700 pounds:wee:.
The splice I finely decided on HERE
Materials;
About 6 feet of 5/16th inch Amsteal-Blue (green just to be different) when I do it over I'll use something smaller.
5/16th inch Fid.
Electrical tape.
Sharpie.
I used a scrap strand left over from the taper for the lock stitching.

Nice one, love the color... it would look good on a las vegas tracksuit/wedding tuxedo.
Hope you're on a roller, that looks rough to think of feeding through a hook... ( the only strop flying I've done)
fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....
sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...
also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

Its a hook but amsteal is so slick I'm hoping it will work.

just a little overkill. I just use 3/16 dyneema open weave(no core) and just a simple eye splice and a few stitches to lock it. It is what I use on
my hotwire rig. You could pull a car w/ it! That will deffo last a while...
