Trampa Dampas for Matrix Trucks?
Got my new MBS pro 100 a week ago and I'm just lovin it! Thought this board would suit me well since I'm 220 lbs and mostly legs. Besides, Dino had
it on sale as a demo and I couldn't pass it up. Definetely a stiff board, but my weight seems to give it a good amount of flex. Anyway, it seems
like the springs really have to be turned down quite a bit just to contact the eggshocks. Is this normal for Matrix type trucks? Trampa Dampas look
way longer and even though they are a different shape, thought that these would work better so I wouldn't have to compress the springs so far. Any
thoughts on this from my fellow landboarders?

hmmm, i've only used the trampa skate style trucks since they are light. but the owner of trampa has told me that out of 2000 new trampa trucks only
2 or 3 have been broken. i know you aren't worried about yours breaking but are more concerned about how well they are going to work for your size.
so that being said.....i don't really know lol. they are supposed to work very well, so maybe try the trampa. I know that the owner ted raves about
how well they've done in the last two years....i hope this is somewhat helpful

don't worry about it, if you screw all down tight, the board would be super stiff and unforgiving.
loose and easy to steer makes it easier
the channel matrix i have had everything locks up if you don't keep it all moving, you'll want it stiffer as you progress. give a tweak after every
20hours or so.
i really couldn't tell they did much, but a lighter rider may be able to discern.
the super light stuff ain't so good for a heavier rider it just breaks.

Maybe I should re phrase the question. Should the springs be tightened down far enough so as to contact the eggs at all times. Springs all the way
up seem like the board wouldn't always touch the eggs. The picture shows the eggs as they are out of the box, just kinda floating around inside the
springs.

Picture needs to be hosted. TinyPic, Flickr, etc. are likely candidates for hosting.
Alternatively, you can upload it to the PKF Gallery to the Kite ATB section here:
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/gallery_image.php?action=multi...
As another alternative, I can post it, if you email it to me at my profile email:

Maybe I should re phrase the question when I learn more about computers. I think I got it this time. Should the springs be tightened down far enough
so as to contact the eggs at all times. Springs all the way up seem like the board wouldn't always touch the eggs. The picture shows the eggs as they
are assembled out of the box, just kinda floating around inside the springs. Thanks a bunch indigo_wolf!

Your welcome....
Much better. Nice big picture can be found here:
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/gallery_image.php?action=view&...
See what you mean about the eggs barely being touched by the tophats.
Own GI gear and no Spring Bionics.... so limited help from my quarter, but here's some info:
Page 3 of the MBS Board Owner's Manual and Page 3 of the 2003 MBS Board Owner's Manual (clearer pictures) has detailed instructions for adjusting the trucks.
Trampa Dampas
From the Trampa website:
"The Trampa Dampa is a specifically designed elastomer which due to its special shape fits perfectly into the cap of most spring designed or
Channel / Matrix truck."
From the ATBShop.co.uk website:
"They are designed slightly longer than an eggshock to fill the whole gap in between the cups in a matrix truck so there is no wobble in the top of
the truck and screwing the springs down is not required. "
Caveat from the 2003 MBS Board Owner's Manual
Important: Never screw adjustment screw below the top surface of the deck.
I expect this is because if you have the board cranked way over tightening down the adjustment screw past the recommended point could cause the
adjustment screw to pop out of the hole which could lead to all kinds of excitement and colorful language.
Yellow 65shore Medium
Green 75 shore Hard
Blue 85 shore Super stiff
As LostFox said that East Coast Kite Sports now deals Trampa gear, they might be able to get you Trampa Dampas.
Otherwise, I believe Cosmic Kites might be able to get them. At least the could last year, when I checked with them.
Hope that helps.

Sam

Sam, if gas wasn't so expensive I'd be there to thank you personally. I couldn't have gotten a better response from the "almighty" himself. You
pretty much answered every question I had. All the new comers are dang lucky to have someone like you on the forum!
Take care,
Rob.
