New guy!

Good morning,

Martin Blais sent me over this way, I am new to traction kiting.

I am a fairly big guy (6'1 275 pounds) who loves pull, I was looking at some thing like a HQ Scout II 4m or the Rush pro 350.

I have a 1.5m quad i fly, and love it. Just looking for something more aggressive and could possible used for scudding or kite jumping. Let me know what you guys think.

Welcome to the forum!

Let us know what strength / quality (gusty / wiggly / smooth) wind you deal with, and you'll get more focused advice. If you are getting good pull from a 1.5 it must be pretty decent, eh?

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

The wind depends on the time of year near the lakes it is pretty smooth but can be gusty, i would guess the 1.5 is pulling 35-40 pounds.

4m is ok but u will need a good bit of wind to have fun may be about 15mph and up if u really want to jump and stuff a good start kite size is a 5m or 6m fixed bridle kite. ozone riot, flexifoil blades , HQ crosssfire are all great kites also pansh ace which ais probally the cheapest of the bunch. Jumping kites are designed with a high aspect ratio which has to do with the shape of the kite. you want a ratio of atleast 4 for a really good jumping kite.

Thank Martin for adding another wolf to the PKF population.

Another likely source for a first kite might be some of the kites on clearance at Big Mike's

Currently up for grabs are some HQ Beamers and Peter Lynn Vipers/Hornets/Twisters.

ATB,
Sam

Glad to hear you're sorted and that you got a chance to talk to Mike on the phone. Email's fine, but sometimes it's nice to be able to talk with dealers on the phone. Go easy with the 5.6.

If it's the 5.6 IIR, it's the prettiest of the bunch. I'm so shallow  ;)
