I've been thinking about making a bag for my buggies since everyone is asking for one. I've never had a buggy bag or actually looked close at one.

It's jut like a lunch bag I guess with a top piece that has zippers on both sides and a piece of velcro to secure the last flap. I put 3 velcro pieces on each side to strap to your rails.

I was able to fit an 8.3 meter and a 4.4 meter Cooper kite in the bag. I might have to enlarge the height to fit 3 kites and a six pack of beer. :singing:

Any particular things that I need to include or fix on it?? Do I need a plastic piece inside to support the side walls??

Nice work Van. The Buggy Bags bags don't have any support inside but the bag really can't go anywhere so probably not necessary.

Smaller inside pockets, for keys spare lines and handles, wind meter...etc etc, maybe a kite stake pouch

Ptw, haha.. I'm still learning but I actually did make a little bag inside for keys. It's not big enough for kite stake though. I'll have to make it bigger.

i think it should open from the top, instead of the bottom. this way if it's not properly closed/zipped or if the velcro is sticking open less chance of stuff falling out while you are riding...

I have one of the PL buggy bags. Although the way it hangs on the buggy isn't the best, the roll-top closure as used in canoe or kayak drybags is foolproof and totally watertight

btw .. I was gonna put in 2 little buckles to hold down the velcro flaps like on the kite bags. The other option was to put a zipper that zip all the way around in a U pattern. If I do sell these .. would you guys pay $35- $40 + shipping?

Van, imagine a brown paper bag with a few things in it. the way you would ROLL the top of the bag to close it... that's a roll top. :roll:

make sure you stiffen the bottom otherwise they do tend to sag and drag, nice looking bag fella!

The PL bag is inexpensive but effective, but lacking in the fit department. The roll top method is really watertight, + no zips to seize up in sand and salt.

Van, looks great, I like marcs idea about where the flap should be! you could put a kite stake pocket on the outside of the bag with a velcro flap to hold it in place like on a PL spar pocket. That way you could access the stake quickly when you have a kite to land.

the flap thing, I still need to think about it. It's just seems awkward zipping uphill , seems like it would be more likely to unzip if the wind hits the flap. The way I see it , most guys should remember to zip their openings after usage :singing: Because if you forget, something embarassing might fall out :shocked2: :shocked2:

Here's a question for everyone, what else do you put in there besides 2 kites and a six pack? 5 year olds are a given. I put the six velcro straps but they are sewn to the sides only. I was thinking about making straps that goes all the way to the bottom and back up to the other side. You can then put a plastic piece inside for a bottom support and put pretty heavy stuff in there, like a 12 pack for those really long runs?

stiff bottom is a plus ...... top cover with spider net pocket on exterior side for jacket or extra storage is cheap and welcome addition ...... I take one for $40 to get you started as soon I have decide on my new buggy .......
