Mood: They're ALL good ideas. Right up until they become BAD ideas.

Jumping with FSers

I was digging around looking for more info on the mixer setups for the FSers and in the process ran across a post where the "how to" on jumping with FSers was discussed. In it I read that when jumping with a FSer you send the kite, carve away and pull in for liftoff. What I found odd was that it then said to NOT let the bar out while airborne or it'd drop you like a rock (almost a direct quote). This is counter to what I understood and that was that you let the bar out and when it's time to touch the ground again after redirecting the kite you can sheet in a bit to soften the landing.

Is there a different technique with the FSers or is my understanding all wrong to begin with? Might explain why the SA kept overflying me when boosting this winter....I thought it was because I was chicken and had it trimmed in too much.

Have a look at the link Rip posted about jumping big - you let the bar out a bit to redirect the kite then sheet back in ... watch the guys hands.
And yes with the FS too - watch vids of guys boosting big from first person view - they don't really sheet out. And their kites don't front stall ;) saw a really good one recently but now can't find it :(

I think your (and my) problem is insufficient redirection of the kite ... or at the right time :)

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...
