How does it compare to the regular twister 2?

More air? Lol! The biggie looks like a kite I should own

the refined bridle and bridle material (same as the pro series) gives it more solid feel.

the reduced drag makes it faster across the window giving you more pop.

i know a few shops having demos, so try one out.

This kite is the bomb. I like it much better than the previous version and there was nothing I didn't like about that one. The new color schemes are a hit as well

I have not had the chance to fly the new R yet so I am curious to why it is so much better.

Twister IIR - does the "R" stands for "race bridles" or "refined" ??

I fly the 5.6m Twister IIr.

It is my first kite and a biggun' for a first. It is UBER lifty! Esp. in wind over 10mph

I loves me my twister... but sometimes he scares me.

It IS really an awesome kite, really fast, really lifty. Flies and pulls great even 3-4 mph winds. (which are pretty common around Atlanta).

I can't compare it to the old II though.

I am a newby, so I'm sure my skills and technique leave something to be desired, but it may help you to see some of it's flying characteristics and get an idea of it in the hands of someone who is not flying it for a product demo.

the only problems I have had with it is that it seems to get the wing tips wrapped in the bridles semi frequently. At least this happens once or twice per session, maybe its user error.:P

I love the kite and only got a beamer because it was too much for me to handle at times. I bought both from Big Mike who posted above. He is great to work with.

I see in the notes that you had to change the music but I liked it -some improve to go with the flying "style.":singing:
Kudos on gauging the wind and your skill well, I can tell by the luffing and jelly fishing that it was barely flying which is the wind that you want to learn a kite in.

We all work with what we can find in inland fields but that location looks very turbulent to me. As a general rule any tall object will disturb the wind for 5 -6 times its height downwind and you looked to be 1 -2x from those [albeit beautiful] trees and light polls. I have had good luck with "soccer complex" style areas with 3+ soccer fields of space which in suburbia also goes a fair way towards getting clear of those wind shadows.
Keep up and you will be buggying/ boarding in no time with a quiver of kites on the sideline [and or that understanding wife of yours flying next to you :saint:]

Thanks for the advice. I've heard different numbers for how far to be from tall trees and buildings, but truth be told, this is about as good as it gets in the metro atlanta area, and I'll take what I can get. Not to mention this ball field is on the property where I work, so I'm typically there an hour or 2 before work,... extremely convenient!

This field runs east-west nearly 900ft with pretty big roads on either side, and it is pretty decent wind there the closer you get to the middle of the field. The vid may be deceiving.

@soliver: really nice that you can kite every day that has wind close to your workplace.. get yourself a mountainboard or trailskates soon! the real fun starts if you get moving on a board/skates! eventually you will get used to the turbulences. our only kiteplace in my town with smooth ground for boarding is also a soccer field and that too has trees around it. long lines help a bit to get away from the ground level turbulences. but it is still gusty like hell. but: better than nothing..
