Hi !

Yesterday i received my first kite! (Ozone Flow) :wee: :singing: So today i was flying with it, and i have to tell you kite flying is soooooo cool! :D

But when i was packing/unpacking the kite, i wasent able to keep it on the ground. The wind was blowing the kite around.

So i am looking for something heavy that can keep the kite on the ground. I have seen people on youtube who are using small bags with rocks and stuff like that.

What are you using? Something that is in every houses, or something cheap?

Idea for kite weights

Heavy is fine, but it generally doesn't need to be an anvil. Make sure it is not something that is going to damage the canopy or snag the bridle lines.

A couple of water bottles on the trailing edge, roll right off at launch and you can drink them when thirsty, empty they can be filled 1/2 full of pebbles or sand.

It depends on the size of the kite. I use 4 rubber coated 8 lb dumbells that I found in the garage and they work very will with all of my kites. Basically, anything small, smooth, round, and hefty can be used. Water bottles will work on a medium sided fixed bridle kite, but if you want to anchor down a large Arc they will be of no use in a good breeze.

I use the strap that is included with the kite. Either keep the kite rolled or folded while you roll or unroll your lines, then unstrap the kite.

When the wind is blowing hard enough I usually roll the kite up, stuff in the bag, take it home, take it back out and put it away properly. OR as I'm %100 of the time at the beach I use sand to hold down one side as my kite is laid out downwind and put fold/roll it up that way.

I bought a $5 bag of decorative mulch 'pebbles' at the nursery. Sort of Mentos shape but bigger. Sewed them into some canvas 'bags'. Sox would work just fine too. I always grab the edge of my kites and walk into the wind a bit with them while they flag out behind me then fold the side/edge over and dump a weight on it. Just to ask KAKA, are you using a kite stake? If so, you should be able to stake the kite out and it will hold it for you while you pack up. If the wind is really gusty / shifty, stake the kite upside down (leading edge down) and it will hold on the ground better for you without trying ti self launch.
