howtokiteboard.com??

I was doing some research today and wondered what you guys thought about this website? Specifically, the kite size chart shown here:

http://www.howtokiteboard.com/how-to-info/start-here/getting...

I'm definitely not in the market for a real kite right now. I'm still learning on my trainer kite and I'll be taking lessons once I feel confident with it, so I'm sure I'll get some good advice on kite size during my lessons as well. But when the time comes are those pretty good estimates to use for buying a kite for kite surfing? Thanks!

I quite like the site though when I was in "info-absorbing" mode there were unfinished parts which I don't know if I ever did see (gonna spend some time there tonight now). As far as the sizing charts - looks to be about right but it's very general. Each kite is different and published size VS projected sizes vary. Arcs especially - the projected size of a 16m Venom is something like 11.5 m so in the case of the chart the numbers are all wrong......but they are a breed unto themselves. Flysurfers too.....I still get the chills when I see the little drawing on the 13m that says something like "equal to a 20m inflatable). You'll also find big differences in the LEI world in terms of power output per sq meter. Even moreso when you get into the styles/shapes.

One thing I didn't know before (and I only assume it's true because I've now read it on the internet) is that the manufacturer's wind range charts are based on a 150lb rider. I'm halfway between there and a 200lb rider (on a good day) so my brain adjusts accordingly.

Good site, lots of good tips ...

I prefer ikitesurf.com or whatever it's called cos they have pictures and videos ... and a nice chick to look at :D

I think this chart is more informative too ...
