Hello from Omaha
Hey guys, I just found this forum, and wanted to say hi. From some google searches, it sounds like there may be some other users here that live in
Omaha, Nebraska?
I am new to the sport, but have an Ozone Manta II kite, and just bought a mountainboard today. Would love to meet up with anyone else in Omaha who
landboards. Even more importantly, though, is I would love to know where the good spots are to do this! In the winter I was riding on some land near
180th & dodge on a snowboard, but that field gets lots of #@%$#!leburs in the summer.
I've been driving around looking for open fields, but haven't found anything great yet. The fields I am finding are either farmland, or very
overgrown. Any tips on where to go would be fantastic.
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I went to a complex once, and it was okay, but there were still a decent amount of obstacles with bleachers and goal posts and
whatnot. I did get into a fight with the goalpost on one outing, and lets just say the goalpost won

Wow..... Ozone Manta for your first kite? You got bigger Kahoonas than Me. Good luck with finding flying spot. I'm kinda land locked like you and
always looking for that one spot thats good in any wind. Inland traction kiting is tough. But the thrill is worth it. Be Safe good winds

Ha, thanks! A friend of mine got me into the sport, so he gave me some lessons, and then got me an amazing deal on this used Ozone so I decided to go
for it. I told him I didn't mind getting hurt, as long as it was nothing permanent. His response was "You'll probably be fine"

Welcome to the challenges of inland flying and this crazy hobby. I have lost track of the number of trees, soccer frames, and light posts that I have
"landed" a kite in. The forum should develop flying ace icons for our buggy seats or kite bags :singing::wee:.
A few personal highlights:
Disassemble the bridle to get the kite out of the tree [3x so far...]
I am at about 25/ 30 for "getting" a full set of crashes [hit every tree in the complex] at my home field.
Wrap the lines around a light post under a beam reach and cut both lines on the port side of the kite :shocked2:
my philosophy is that if/ when I get good in these "outstanding" conditions I am going to be unstoppable when I finally get on a wide beach or a nice
chunk of Playa. Hope springs eternal.
