Tow-Behind-A-Boat Wakeboards and kites

Can you use a board like this to kitesurf?

Was chatting about kites to a guy and he asked me, and this is the one question i wassnt sure on. What are the differences, why would or wouldnt they work? Curious myself... i could call in a favor and basically get a wakeboard for free

Thanks in advance!

There use to be a product that was a kite attached to the tow handle. Basically after you got moving and hit the wake it would increase jump height and hang time. I am not sure if they are still out there.

If you're into wakestyle, sure why not  I think they have a lot more rocker than kiteboard boards ...

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

I do believe that it is possible to kiteboard with a wakeboard. Due to rocker design, you won't have the upwind capability of a kiteboard. The rocker allows it to climb a wake, as such it will be slower, needing more kite power. Also, the fins are a different (larger????) size than a kiteboards. Didn't Lou Wainman ride a lunch tray board at one time??? If it has an edge it could be done, but I think the novelty will wear off. As a beginner you'd have an easier time on a kiteboard.

No novelty in riding wakestyle, although I wouldn't recommend starting on a wakeboard there are many advantages once you've reached a certain level of progression. We have a solid boot crew here in chucktown, some riding wakeboards and others with boots on their kiteboards...boots and more rocker allow for more comfort in hard landings.

When it boils down to it, ride what you like and make it look good!

As said above, the rocker will make upwind more difficult and require more power. Many factors will come into play, making some wakeboards doable and others a long walk of shame. Skill would make up for lots of the negatives of using a wakeboard. Behind the boat, efficiency isn't an issue so they make them to pop off the wake and land smoothly.

Drew,

being new to H20 and with your quiv you need a flatter, wider board to allow early plaining, and speed......................
