planning an east coast trip
i am planning a nice long trip, and of course i will be bringing kites and boards... no buggy, though, i dont think.... too much space, but the trip
is far in the future, so maybe i will be driving something different...
basically driving from houston to baltimore, then down to key west and back to houston... prob about 2-3 weeks, maybe a month... like i said, a ways
in the future, maybe for graduation, even...
so, what spots along the east coast do i absolutely NEED to visit, and what is the best time of year to do it???
... thanks in advance for all input : )

While in Baltimore, Wildwood is definitely a beach to visit. It would be a 4 hour drive from there, but well worth it. Off season, say October or so
would put you right in time for a fall Wildwood Bash! If you do it early before Memorial Day then you could come to the Spring bash! If you mean kite
boards, you may need a nice wetsuit by then, but the water wouldn't be all that cold quite yet. If you mean ATB boards, you will fit right in.As far
as a buggy, mine is always available if I am not in it, and usually have another one sitting around. Wildwood can stay pretty busy with people
(obstacles) till late September on the weekends then is good till several weeks before Memorial day. If you come over this way, Myself or any of the
guys over here would more than likely would be able to meet up with you. There are several guys in the D.C. area that kiteboard as well as buggy. I am
a couple hours from most of them. The winds are definitely best in the fall or early spring. On your way back down to Key West, you can always stop
by and see Angus in GA or Tridude and several others in SC.

If I had the time and unlimited resources, I'd start up at Eastern Canada (New Brunswick/PEI), work my way through there and end up in Florida around
January. July and August up in Canada, September and October in the OBX, then slowly work my way to FL. From what I hear, summers are dead for wind
in Florida anyways. September and October are the best months of the year here on the Banks (although July hasn't been bad so far). The tourists are
gone and hurricane season is in full swing (best surf of the year). If I only had a month, I'd zip up to the Banks straight away and forget
everything else in between. You won't find a single location that has more than we have (ocean waves, flat water, miles of beaches, etc. etc.).

If you get to the norfolk/Va Beach area hit me up. You can kiteboard out at sandbridge,or we could take my buggy and poach some sand at the place
where I am banned.

If you are looking for spots to kitesurf, there are a couple good ones in VA & DE. Depending on wind direction. I've heard stories of guys
kitesurfing near Baltimore, but never something I've done.
Wildwood is definitely the best spot for land riding anywhere near Baltimore.
bigkahuna is dead on with OBX though. If I had time, and was riding water, that is where I would go.

Definitely hit the OBX, Hatteras Island specifically...you want to be there in June or July...that's when the afternoon/evening southwesterlies get
real regular.

OBX def got the data on wind and the spots!
anything south dies out and we wait for first north to come late october/nov. and local weathering S/SW usually with rain. then all NE /W thru
winter. somewhat unpredictable but generally see'm coming. tides and current play role check for rating AIR, http://catchsomeair.us/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Ite...
