Closest International Airport
What is the closest international airport to fly into to rent a car to drive over for WBB?
If my wife says I can go I might drop in.
I think my radbuggy would breakdown enough to check it. I can stuff a few kites in a back pack to carry on and I can wash my clothes in the tub
every night so I don't stink the next day.
That should cover it.......

I flew into Philly last time from houston because it was much cheaper and more flights were available. Not too bad of a drive from Philly to WBB.

I am going to be flying into Philly and doing some site seeing with the wife before the event.
I told my wife she had to pack all her stuff in her carry on because I needed her 2 checked bags for kites. You can guess how well that went over

Looks like it would be Philly for me. More flights and the airline I have all my miles with doesn't fly into Atlantic City.
Now all I need is the OK from the boss..... flight is covered with miles and I found out I get 2 free checked bags.
I have to check my rental car points. Any Marriott properties close by? or Holiday Inn? Not on the beach with the group but again.... points
to use up.
Hate to sound cheap, but if I can do the trip for the price of meals only..........

Just did some searching online, and I do not see any Holiday Inns in Wildwood.
There is a Days Inn, but I'm assuming that doesnt help you. If you are looking for cheap, you can try to find someone to bunk with, or you could try
camping. It would be a longer drive to the beach in the morning, but it would probably save you SOME money...

The Shalimar is about as cheap as it gets Goofball. We get a group rate for pretty nice accommodations. The high end is about $180 for Thurs-Sun. The
smaller rooms are cheaper. I'm sure there is someone willing to split a room if you post your needs. You can check out the thread in the WBB section
with a link to the Shalimar. WildWood is a little beach town so no major hotels outside of Atlantic City and you really don't want to be that far.
Everybody stays at the Shalimar and you can almost roll out of bed onto the beach... And that is worth all the money in itself... Hope to see you !!!

$180 is not bad for the duration. I leave in a couple days for vacation with the family out to Jekyll Island. Hopefully they will still have
availability when we get back.
As to bunking up... I would not want to subject a fellow pkf'er to the torture of my snoring, nor would I want to end up on the next video release of
"guess who's snoring"....
I hope I get to make the trip.

I hope to go this fall but would need to be cost effective so if there are any really heavy sleepers out there I snore but need to split
accommodations to make the trip but this challenge is not for the light sleeper I have not been out snored and I would say it is probably like
sleeping at the approach end of an international airport I keep trying to emphasize because until u have experienced it it is hard to explain so out
goes the challenge

Please don't call to book a room yet anyone, Maria is in her busy season and will only set the group rate in the middle of September. The Shalimar
might sell out for that weekend but she has told me that she will open her other hotel up if it does. Ricardo, will shipping the equipmet take longer
than a month? Rich did off up to ship it to him if that's still open.

travelling to any event is always stressful. we like to be prepared for the worse. I'm not travelling alone (which always seems easier) so I need to
look out for the complete Team.
trying to cut fees from shipping and/or paying airline baggage fees is the goal.
I have stuff coming from NL as well.

Look like I will be going solo to WWBB this year so no family. Anyone want to share a ride from Philly airport to Wildwood and back?? I can fly in
thursday or friday and then leave sometime on sunday. I snore pretty bad too ..hahaha .. but I do have ear plugs so if someone wants the couch, it's
available.
