PL Twister II or IIR
I'm looking at picking up a 5.6 Twister II or a Twister IIR. Has anyone had the chance to fly both - is the "R" worth paying extra for?
Thanx

heres the deal.... the r IS a better kite. but not sure by how much. the redone bridals and all the improvements prolly make for a much better kite.
that being said, you can almost STEAL new twister 2s right now. the price is hard to top for these kites, i have a 5.6 and love it, i will never get
rid of it
either way, great kites, just grab what you can afford and you'll love either one

most dealers have discounted the II version. however if its not instock at the dealer, there will be no way in getting one.
the difference between the II and IIR
-colours / patterns (for the ladies of the sport who look at that first. hehehehe)
-the bridle now has pure dyneema same as you would see on the Pro Range kites.
-tiny changes that you wouldnt notice from the II to the IIR

6-18-2009 at 09:36 PM: I can only assume shortly after this, little Ricky decided to go with a more snug helmet and let his membership to Madame

While I applaud his sense of safety, I fear he might have let a little bit of his soul die that day. :sniff: :sniff:
FWIW/IMHO: Life's too frickin' short to not seek out those kites that make your heart go pitter patter, thumpa, thumpa, humna, humna, woogly.... even
when they are parked on the deck (let alone when they are swooping through the oblique rays of the setting sun).

While I haven't flown them side by side, the IIR is definitely better. its hard to imagine that they could have improved on the already great II,
but the entire lineup improved for 2011.
It is a good choice.

The most important change is indeed in the bridles. I've flown the whole range of IIRs on a test day and must say for the 7.7 it's a serious
improvement over the old model. The new one is quite a bit faster through the air due to less resistance. Because of that it turns and accelerates
better, meaning you have more speed in your kite, and thus more lift.
It only matters on big models though. The 5.6 was still be a nice bit faster then the old one, especially in relatively low winds. For the 4.1 and
3.0, the difference is a lot smaller. Those sizes already half only half the bridle lengths the 7.7 does, and you fly them in more wind anyway.
What i'd do: for the 5.6 as you asked, i'd try and get the IIR, but if i was offered a good deal on a regular II, i'd probably take it.
Me: Dutch Flyboarder ... but not the kind you\'re thinking of.
Power: PL Vibe 1.8 (1.9 mod) - PL Vibe 1.9 - PL Vibe 2.3 - PL Hornet 2.0 - PL Twister 4.1 - PL Twister 5.6
Wind Range: Riding: 11 - 38 knots. Jumping: 12 - 21 knots.
Ride: Trampa (14ply 35deg channels)
Wants: PL Reactor II 6.9 - PL Impulse TR 3.0
Former gear: Libre Dragonboard Sirius - PL Guerilla 13 - Flysurfer Speed I 10 - Ozone Manta II 10
Homemade: PL Vibe 1.8 - Star 6.0 (Depower) - 3 Nasawings - Pixie 1.5 (fun foil) - Flowform 3.0 (slk) - Frog (laundry)
Dilemma: If you work, you have money for kites but no time to fly them. If you don\'t work, you have plenty of time to fly
kites, but no money to buy them. Either way, we\'re all screwed...

I've just got my twister 2 7.7 so take everything I say with a gain of salt. One of the things i love about this kite is how much grunt its got and i
imagine that a change of bridal wouldn't change that much as the bridal is not moving through the wind. I find that the wind window is smaller than my
ace, however, and it is actually harder to fly against the edge of the window which surprised me. This could be a factor that I have had much more
time with the ace. I wonder if less drag on the lines twister 2r would give it a larger window? The kite itself has a huge cross section compared to
the bridals and I wonder what such a change of material to just bridal line would make.
