Static flying, anywhere from Monterey to Santa Cruz, favorite spots?
Super beginner just got my first kite, will be flying all week in light winds and heading to Monterey next weekend, looking for a large-ish quiet-ish
beach, anyone have a favorite spot?
I've heard moss landing mentioned a lot on this forum but mostly for buggy. I just need a fair amount of land for scudding and not so many looky-loos.
Thanks!

moss would be a good place for that .. not many people. There are alot of cliffs along this whole stretch (montery to santa cruz). try and not fly a
beach with a big cliff behind you ... it will really give you spastic and swirling winds

Thanks for the suggestion, I would go bay area as it's a bit closer but I'm looking to kite for awhile then jump in the water and I know how cold it
is up there.
A couple weekends ago I was in cayucos and the water wasn't bad at all, I was in for a couple hours boogie boarding with no wetsuit.

Second for Moss Landing - you're just over a hundred miles but it's totally worth it. You'll want to try the beach just north of the inlet (middle of
the bay) - the sand is better quality (grey) and compacted nicely at low tide.
we all believe is called the expansion

We're going to head to Santa Cruz and see what's around there and then drive towards Moss Landing. Thanks for the tips.
